I went to the pet store today and they do not carry Frontline anymore. So they advised me to get Cutter. It is a 5 in 1 medication. Has anyone tried this before? K9 Advantix never worked so I am afraid of new things for my lil dog. Thanks

I'm not sure about cutter...if it's over the counter I wouldn't recommend it. You should get frontline elsewhere, if they don't carry it anymore.

I've never heard of Cutter flea treatments before, but I looked them up online because I'm always very wary of stuff sold in pet shops (except for Frontline, obviously).

This Cutter stuff doesn't look good - it's way down there in price, just like all the pet shop stuff that is cheap because it doesn't work. It also says 'do NOT use on cats' - which is usually a sign that it contains pyrethrins, which are old-fashioned rubbish with limited efficacy on fleas.

I would say go to your vet store for flea treatment, you'll find Frontline there. It's always best to stick with what you know, especially if it works. And it's never a good idea to switch from Frontline to cheap pet shop stuff - you get what you pay for remember!

Re: httnmrtt's comment - in the early '70s, decent flea treatments like Frontline weren't available, so Cutter's probably WAS one of the best. 30 years later, much better things are available!

When I was in SE Asia in the early 70's, we were issued Cutter Insect Repellent. It worked a lot better than other brands and made a believer out of me. If Cutter is providing veterinary products also, I would give it a try. Its a good name brand.
