Here is how it works: First, the earliest you can leave for Basic Training in the Army is 7 days from the day you swear in. You have to be in the DEP that long so if your drug test is positive it will come back before you leave. In addition, it also depends on the job you pick and when the AIT for that job starts. The Guidance Counselors look at that and then back it up like 10 weeks and put you in a Basic class. You need time to ship, process paperwork etc. On the other hand you can be in the DEP as long as 364 days but that rarely happens especially if your not in school.

Depends on the orders from the Department of Army and how full the Basic Training Schools are.
Might be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months!!
In other words, ask a US Army Recruiter!!

That depends on your status. As a junior in HS, you may leave up to 10 days before the end of the school year and return from basic up to 10 days after the new year starts. As a senior in HS, you may leave as early as 2 weeks after your graduate from HS. If you have already graduated, you could leave in as few as 3 - 7 days. I have personally witnessed one young man leave the very next morning.

I'm not sure exactly how it all works. I think it has to do with your score and the positions available of what it is your score qualifies you to study.
What I do know is in April my 21 year old daughter went for job interview and came back to tell me she signed up for the Air Force. The next week, she took her test. And she leaves for basic August 21st. She has never been so sure of anything in her life. After seeing her beautiful face light up for the first time in a long time....I am so very happy for her.

After passing the physical exam and taking the ASVAB test all you need to do is tell the person doing your classification that you want to ship-out ASAP. You won't get much of a choice of job, but my guess is that you'll be on your way in a couple weeks.

It depends when all your paper work and next cycle is done AND if you can pass the physical at MEPS. I swore in in January and didn' leave until July. I have a friend that left a week after she swore in.

My son was a Marine recruit who entered through the DEP program, 1 year before he shipped to boot. The shortest time? If you have all your paperwork together and don't require any waivers?? couple weeks..
