my boyfriend of 3 years hit me on the head with a newspaper during an argument... i admit i was annoying, but it's the first time something like this has happened. he said he is sorry and i cried a lot. it really hurt me that he would do that but i don't know how to feel about this. he is always so sweet and cares about me and i do love him. i don't know if i'm overreacting about this or whether i'm being too weak about it? :(

If this become a pattern, or if you notice any other warning signs that he is an abuser, put your running shoes on and get out of the relationship. Personally, if any guy ever hit me, regardless of circumstances, I'd be so gone. But you should definitely talk to him about it, even if he claims it's no big deal. It sounds like it's really affecting you and the way you feel about him, so it needs to be discussed. Or you could just hit him back.

Whether or not you should be worried about this depends on 2 things. 1) What Newpaper. 2) What day the newspaper came out. If you live in some tiny craphole town and he hit you with the local redneck reader(assuming rednecks read) then he was probably just flirting. Cavemen used to club their women and drag them back to their caves. However, lets say he hit you with the sunday edition of the Times. There's a lawsuit if I've ever heard of one. I had a bf in high school who was abusive and I can say from experience that it doesn't get any better. When they do it once and you stay, they think it's ok and you wont leave them so they just keep doing it. Each time getting a little worse. I dont know how he hit you and what kind of mind set he was in at the time but I can place it because you said you were fighting at the time. Dont let him continue to hurt you.

i'm eighteen and my boyfriend is nineteen and he's particularly like a similar way. different than there's a concern for what my bf has and that is schizophrenia. if he angrily hit you, then he needs to sit down and think if he will do that again, because that is wrong, but if it didn't hurt you, then you probably made a bigger deal out of it than is necessary, if it didn't hurt, you're response should probably be more like, "while that didn't hurt me physically, hitting me when we are fighting is wrong, and that hurts me emotionally that you did that, and I want to make sure that you don't ever do that again."

i'm so sorry you felt this way.....to be honest thats the reason i broke up w/my first love...he actually accidentally pussed me while arguing....but i already warn him to never put his hand to me.... if ever i will finally end the relationship even i'm that inlove w/him...but he didnt respect that so what the heck....i run away and never come back....its been 8yrs now...i know in my heart he cannot forget about me....cuz for some reason his married now...AND HIS WIFE HATED ME SO MUCH....

He hit you with a news paper.... well throw a freakin magazine at him..... Thats nothing to be scared about... especially if he isnt violent usually... sometimes stupid S*** like that happens.... I would definitely Beam him with a Magazine!!! He will laugh and you guys will be fine!
