Even if it was a good idea, we don't have any troops or weapons to use. Mr. Bush has them all tied up with his little war-for-oil in Iraq.
What you must remember is that Iran is NOT Iraq. Iran is a wealthy, vibrant, well educated country with fiercely loyal citizens. They have excellent public utilities, hospitals, schools. There economy is booming and has "boomed" for years. The government of Iran has been democratically elected by free and open elections. They have a standing military of 540,000 with 300,00 battle-ready troops on standby. They have over a thousand tanks, plenty of fighter jets, weapons and missiles.
Our government would be foolish to try and invade that country. Negotiation is what's needed.... and we need a President who knows how to lead and negotiate. Not the jerk currently holding the office.
As for their nuclear program. They are probably trying to develop nuclear weapons...why not? That's the next step. However, having a useful weapon with a competent delivery system is years in the future. Besides, Israel will never let them get to that point. Anyone who thinks that the Israelis will standby and letit happen don't understand the Israelis very well. When they think it is right, they will simply bomb the bejesus out of Iran's nuclear sights and probably clean out several cities - and they won't ask permission first.
What needs to happen with regard to our military is THEY NEED TO COME HOME. Mr. Bush has royally screwed up. The fate of the middle-East is out of our hands. There is NOTHING we can do there anymore. There was nothing we could do there in the first place.
Our own country couldn't fight off an attack right now. All of our resources are in Iraq in the middle of a civil war. And Bush keeps sending more and more.
Heaven forbid if we get wind that North Korean is forming a flotilla in the North Pacific or troops along the demilitarized zone. What could we do????? Nothing.
Poor Kansas doesn't even have it's own National Guard to help those poor people who have lost everything, including their town, in the destructive tornado. Can you imagine what would happen if we have a coupla of really nasty hurricanes or more tornadoes?
We need to stop fiddling around in other countries business and fix our own front porch.
From MILNET.com:
So why is Iran a threat? After reading the paragraphs above one would assume that Iran only presents a minor threat. The difficulty is that compared to other Gulf military capabilities, and especially those of its direct neighbors, Iran is significantly better well off. As the CSIS report says:
"Nevertheless, Iran is still a significant military power by Gulf standards. It has some 540,000 men under arms and over 350,000 reserves. They include 120,000 Iranian Revolutionary Guards trained for land and naval asymmetrical warfare. Iran's military also includes holdings of 1,613 main battle tanks, 21,600 other armored fighting vehicles, 3,200 artillery weapons, 306 combat aircraft, 60 attack helicopters, 3 submarines, 59 surface combatants, and 10 amphibious ships."

How do you dare to take the victory for granted? Read your own question again. You won the war already.
Hello!!!!!!! You are absolutely screwed in Iraq. (Servicemen/Servicewomen in Iraq. I totally respect your efforts there. This answer is addressed to the politicians and fanatics)
Iraq was a poor country with limited military force. I hope you Americans are crazy enough to take Iran on. Then you will learn the biggest lesson of your history (You will probably be a boring chapter in history books anyway).

This is about the gyst of it, and awaiting a trigger event, soon invasion will be paramount. Has to happen as Iran won't play ball and the other arab nations can't or won't make them see the light . These people love blood, and blood there will be, hope they're not counting on policing like Iraq cause this war will actually level.

We should invade Iran because their president comes out on a regular basis rehashing anti American rhetoric. He continues to speak out against Israel and says they should be blown off the map and then America follows. Remember, Iran is not like a North Korea. Iran's president will use nuclear weapons against us and our allies once he has fully acquired them. Why? Because he feels that he is corresponding with his radical religion by getting rid of the infidels and non believers.

Invade Iran....
AH-hahahahaha
Do some research, yank.
Including their supporting paramilitary, Iran has the LARGEST ARMY ON EARTH.
Paramilitary (civilian army trained like troops) are like terrorists. You can't handle Iraq? Try TWELVE MILLION terrorists in Iran.
They outnumber your army 6-1.
