This is our work computer here at work: We installed Service Pak 2 (we were downloading softwares and needed to update for certain things to run, It listed that we need SP2) Now AOL and Compuserve both have problems....We get disconnected a few times a day....Im the one mostly on AOL - It will say theres a connection problem....(we are on dial up)
What do we need to check?

Disable the Firewall; which is probably your issue (one of the only changes in Sp2 for winxp)

Start>Settings>Network Connections

from there find your Internet connection device; right click goto properties on it.

from there should be an Advanced tab; click on that; from there you should beable to disable the firewall for that connection.

Alternativley from Security Center in Control panel you can disable the windows firewall.

This should clear up your connection issues; however I do have to put in that it's not recommended; however I remove the firewalls myself.

ok it is approximately 10 different themes. at the start you tried to make a substantial working equipment substitute on a gadget contaminated with viruses/spyware. for loose attempt removing viruses with AVG. spyware attempt Adaware, Spybot and Hijack This. the the remainder of your issues will possibly ease as quickly as the gadget is clean.

Upgrade your AOL and Compuserve (they still in business ?) software

Uninstall service pack 2 and just search and install what YOU NEED.

If you can get dial up you should be able to get DSL.If you cant get Huges network satalight.Dial up went out with the caveman

now that you have the latest update make sure your other vital programs are updated as well.
