Tripper, do you ride a Bicycle or do you just float around on all that HOT AIR you expound?????? Hey listen. oil prices are up WORLD WIDE... In Canada, they have what is known as an IMPERIAL gallon---I think it's about 1 quart more then our GALLON and for that, they pay over $6.00 per gallon... I don't know if it's JUST Bush, but he's PART of it, being a world leader... and ALL the world leaders are responsible when prices on products go UP...they should all get together and put some type of regulation on all the oil companies... Thing is, when the price of gas goes up, SO DOES EVERYTHING ELSE... So , Tripper, (who wrote an answer further up the isle here).... your food costs more, your medicines cost more, your plane ticket will cost more, your ORANGES will cost more, your Vegetables cost more because how DO you think they transport EVERYTHING that you purchase? BY GAS CONSUMING VEHICLES--be it planes, trains, cars, buses.. etc. So, if we STOP complaining, we might end up paying $5.00 a gallon for MILK and $6.00 a pound for BUTTER and $5.00 a pound for bannanas--- Try being RETIRED on a FIXED income and paying rent and paying electric and paying phone and THEN try having enough to buy food, and $250 for a bottle of medicine that Canadians get for $50 from the SAME DAMN COMPANY!!!!!! Ok, Tripper, you sit there and sit there on your little bottom and just watch and let someone else do the fighting for you---but the next time you have to pay $4.00 for a tube of Toothpaste that was shipped by TRUCK (which runs on GAS) from Ohio because that gas to fill that truck costs 10 TIMES what it cost 20 years ago and 5 times more then just 5 years go...then be happy as a clam that you did NOTHING to stop it.

this is alot more simple than all that crap. its supply and demand. there is a huge demand, and no matter what the supply is the price will always raise until the demand gets lower. it doesnt matter what the price is obviously because every day we use even more gas. personally I don not believe $5 a gallon is too much thats what brits have been paying for years. maybe we should be wondering why a mc donalds value meal is $6? and WHY ON EARTH would anyone pay for water in a bottle? because people will buy it. thats what sets the price for everything. I have some old baseball cards that are worth a few hundred dollars, why dont they work on a way to reduce the cost of these cards by printing more? because nobody cares. they will pay that price. they might even grumble about it but hey, supply and demand people

It's all supply and demand.

We've gotten ourselves into a position where we depend on gas, in larger amounts than before, and are willing to pay a lot more to get it. So why shouldn't the oil companies and oil producing nations charge us whatever they can? It's only good business. They'd be irresponsible to their shareholders and their people if they didn't.

Just remember, it's OUR FAULT. It's our fault that over 50% of the passenger vehicles on the road are gas guzzling SUVs and trucks. They are everywhere. The lady I work next to has a big Chevy Tahoe. She has no kids and never hauls a bunch of stuff around. I've never seen more than 1 passenger in it. My single neighbor guy has an even bigger diesel pick up truck. He's never hauled one thing in his truck or had more than 2 people in it, at least that I've seen in the last 3 years.

It's our fault we haven't invested in public transportation, or bought more fuel efficient vehicles. It's our fault we haven't increased domestic oil supply and refining capacity.

We had several previous warnings in the 70s and 80s that our oil and gas supplies were unstable. We are now paying the price, yet again.

There's always an excuse. I read this morning it is because of refineries shutting down for maintenance. I agree with the point of finding alternative fuels. The government should have made this a gradual requirement years ago. But. as was already mentioned, the government is full of oil people. They sure don't want to lose any money. They can afford the high prices. Drilling should be allowed in Alaska and other places, and build more refineries as needed. But, they can't because of the environmentalists.

One thing they need to do is build new Refineries. There has not been one built since 1976 so now they are saying that this is the time for maintenance on those old refineries, plus throw in a small fire and some flooding. There is NO oil shortage! The fact that the oil companies are making billions of dollars of profits and saying it has nothing to do with gas prices think that all of us Americans are going around with STUPID stamped to our heads!
I think the only answer is to get our Government involved and force them to build new refineries.
I am not sure what your gas prices are but in Okla it is $3.23 a gallon, .30 cents up in the last two months.
Okay, I have ranted enough........next????

Man, it's all a bunch of crap. they look for any excuse to jack up the prices. There never is a shortage. the governement is so corrupt. And I like it when I hear about the gas companies making over ten billion dollars a quarter, yet they are still jacking up prices. Why does this happen, because politians have there hand in the money pot and they get kick backs. It's all corrupt.

you shouldn't be complaining. we're trying to eliminate our dependence on it and should not do much to lower the prices. it would actually be a good thing if gas prices continue to rise. then maybe all the morons in this country will think twice when it comes to buying all these gas guzzling vehicles that are on the road today. does anyone else get pissed off when you see a Hummer driving down the road ?? i mean seriously, that is so unnecessary.

we've created this situation ourselves and seem to be oblivious to that. how many SUV's do you see on the road today ?? if the answer is a lot - then there's your answer why prices are high.

simple solution = get SUV's off the road and gas prices will take a nosedive !!!

Oil companies and their investors are just using the war to cover up the fact that they are money hungry pigs! The strain that they are putting on the country is causing a lot of economical hardships that, if not dealt with soon, will lead very near or into another depression.

i do think its a bunch of bull because they have risen to over 3.00 dollars in a matter of 4 years. They shouldnt blame the war in Iraq for our gas problems. They should be trying to find alternatives to oil and try to pass bills to make oil and gass more affordable.

It is going with the mentality of the human beings. maximum conventional human beings purely desire issues left by myself. they do no longer understand that some environmental extremist is in the BLM place of work lobbying to close the line which takes them to their fashionable place to circulate camp, or fish, etc. they do no longer additionally be attentive to it is long gone, till they choose to apply it. different than it is not purely that. This is going on for the duration of all government workplaces, proper to all issues, all a thank you to the right. Gun rights, freedom of speech- dosen't count what it particularly is- if it particularly is a freedom, somebody is lobbying to end it, and take it faraway from us. I in part have confidence that communities/human beings like the international economic enterprise are controlling each and everything, and we purely have a puppet government promoting us their concepts (image Bush, or Clinton/Obama as a used motor vehicle salesman-howdy if the shoe suits) besides the shown fact that what I see maximum is that the 'criers, and screamers' are people who're protesting, and lobbying, and that they are those taking large chunks of united statesa. faraway from us. do no longer have confidence it- look into the fee on the gasoline pumps. there's no rational reason of this. We america have oil suited right here at homestead, yet a lot of litigation, and courtroom circumstances (from the various save the whales style communities) ward off us from touching it. EPA mandates have made development new refineries all yet impossible- the final one outfitted in the '70's. If this dosen't replace we are doomed, as united statesa. won't be able to help itself on $5 gasoline. Logging, mining, production- virtually lifeless in comparison with what united statesa. was, and we've greater human beings to purchase the products that are created from those issues- as quickly as returned lobbying, and litigation positioned the brakes on it- circulate determine! back in the day we'd have- and did have a Boston Tea social gathering to protest a central authority which replaced into working against the human beings. i think of those days are long gone, as I see no backbone left in the human beings to stand up, and say it particularly is bowlsh*t. purely look into how a lot of human beings rather have confidence in a jerk like Obama. it is particularly unhappy. Bend over, and smile- Socialism is virtually right here.
