and why do people pretend to base their lives on allegience to their GOD's rules, when they really just do whatever they want most of the time anyway?

I suspect it has more to do with the human brain's compulsion to resolve anxieties arising from unanswered or unanswerable questions.

If we can't find an answer, we make one up.

No one can know the mind of God. He may reveal tiny bits and pieces of His plan for us, but ultimately, He holds us all in His hand, and knows what's best for us. I don't PRETEND to pledge allegience to my God. I LIVE it.

It makes people feel better if they feel they have a reason to live or someone to live for. It also gives them a reason to pass judgment on others. If they feel they are passing judgment based on God's intentions, then its all ok.

Load of **** huh?

Human beings have this never ending need to define everything. We try the whole 'if I can't see it it doesn't exist' theory,, and then we are given overwhelming evidence that there is a mighty power beyond our understanding,, so we work hard trying to explain and define it. When in reality,, its beyond our understanding.

God's rules were not given to follow... that only brings death. God gave us the Law that we might rely on a righteousness outside of ourselves(alien righteousness) for example, the sinless Lamb of God, Jesus.

I don't know what "people" you're referring to, but I do whatever God calls me to do - even if it's something I don't WANT to do. God is a god of hearts - not rules. Rules are for pharisees. God wants RELATIONSHIPS with his people; not religion. If people would just obey the first commandment (thou shall have no other gods...) and the new commandment from Jesus to love our neighbors as ourselves, it would be impossible to break the others!

God has instilled the truth in my heart- from His word....I have a choice to follow it, and a choice not to follow it....Maybe you could plead your case a little better if you start using "I" statements instead of "they"....Each person will be responsible for his/her own actions....and you dont know me the way God does.....
