i think its really unfair for people like my father or other legal immigrant to went through hardships to obtain green card legally and took us over 10 years to get it, when these illegal immigrants just do not want to go through that and find a easy way... i think its totally not fair at all. i think illegal immigrants who have been USA less than 10 years should be kicked out. people who hve been here more than that would require them to pay more taxes for couple of years to obtain legal citizenship. and they also need to have a stricter punishment for illegal immigrants to commit a crime.

I believe that we should have a six pronged approach:
First; we should enforce the laws we already have. This includes punishing those who knowingly employ illegal aliens.
Second; we should stop providing health care, benefits, and licenses to illegals. They do not pay taxes and thus, they should not receive any benefits entitled to citizens.
Third; we should amend/eliminate the law that makes someone an instant American Citizen if they are born on our soil. This should only apply to people who are legally in this country. The current law encourages illegal immigration. This must be changed.
Fourth; build a huge wall, twenty feet high and ten feet underground. I would actually make it two walls, 50 yards apart with a "dead zone" in the center. Put pressure detonated land mines in the center and place snipers and roving patrols on various hot sports near the wall. Kill anyone in the dead zone. This actually is not just about illegal immigration, it is about our national security.
Five; we should require citizens to have a National Identity Card. If someone does not have one (or an appropriate tourist visa/diplomatic identity), then this is sufficient reason to investigate their presence in this country. If they are here illegally, deport them immediately.
Finally, I think we should remove some of the bureaucracy from the current system so that those who wish to legally immigrate can do so. We are, at some level, a nation of immigrants. I am not anti-immigrant, but I am anti-illegal immigrant. Conditions for entry should be a demonstrated desire to become American (this includes assimilation into our culture), the ability to speak conversational English, a written test, a demonstratable working skill-set/degree, and a sponsor who is currently a citizen that can vouch for the person's character. If the individual in question commits a crime, that person should be deported.
Hope this helps.

It is not a job for the national guard!
Arrest those that employ them and see how fast it changes. That will never happen because 1/2 of the Republican party supports them being here to use as slave labor. It is a crime you know! Being an illegal is a civil offense! It is the other half of the Republicans that makes all the noise! It is also the same Republicans that did squat in 12 years!
Have you ever heard a Republican blame their employers. No, they go after their own victims! Shame on you!

Abolish the "anchor baby" provision in the constitution.
Stop access for illegals to all government benefits, education, welfare, food stamps, medical care etc. impose heavy penalties on any organization or individuals smuggling, employing, renting housing to or otherwise supporting / harboring illegal immigrants.
Limit the amount of money that can be sent overseas by individuals.
Make it a felony to enter the US illegally. Then they won't have reason to come here and many of those already here will deport themselves.
Enforce the existing laws.

I agree with some of Lord Edwards propositions. If working legaly was easier there probably would be less illegal immigrants.
Stop hiring illegal immigrants. If illegals couldn't find a job, they couldn't live here. Make those who hire them choose between paying a high fee for not respecting the law or taking care of the papers so they can work here legally.
But you have to think that a lot of agricultural products would have their price rise because being legal means minimum wage and a lot of companies cannot afford it... (not counting the fee for legal working visas).
Stop focusing on illigal immigrants and take care of those who wish to immigrate legally.

Yes, so what we need to do, is build a HUGE moat around the southern states that Mexico touches, and take all the dirt that was dug up to make the moat, and put it around New Orleans, so they have a huge wall, so no more tornadoes will come in there. Then, take out all of the alligators and crocodiles that were in the water in New Orleans, and put them in the new moat that is around the southern states!! POOF!!! Problem solved! LOLOLOLOL
Have you heard Robin Wiliiams' speech? I will find it, and put it on here. HILARIOUS, yet very true, and it can be done!!

Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. Zero tolerance for immigration-law violators! No amnesty, no "stealth-amnesty." No "change of status," marriage fraud, "exceptional leave to remain," no "Temporary Protected Status." If you break the law, depart or be deported. Illegal aliens kill more US citizens each year than the war in Iraq has killed in four years. Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children. Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees. Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland. Taxpayers are being forced to pay for the free health care, education, and other welfare programs being given to illegal aliens; Those tax dollars could be given back to U.S. taxpayers or used to keep our borders secure; They may be here illegally, but they sure know how to "work the system" to collect "free" medical care, "free" education, "free" food, Section 8 housing vouchers and other housing assistance, and hundreds of other social services. It costs citizens additional hundreds of billions of tax dollars at every level: local, state, and federal. It gobbles up billions of our charitable contributions. And much of that money ends up siphoned out of our economy and into offshore accounts. Illegal aliens, over half of whom work "under the table" with neither job nor income reported (nor taxed), are not counted as employed or unemployed. But some of those day-labor and off-the-books "job-lets" would be "real" jobs - available to American citizen job-seekers - if employment regulations were enforced. Illegal aliens can get away with tax evasion, et al., which citizens cannot. In short, we have too many workforce entrants and too few jobs created. The ratio works out to roughly 7-10 workforce entrants per job created. If all illegal aliens depart or are deported, all legal immigration halted, and all temporary employment visas abolished, we still have a problem with more US-born workforce entrants than new jobs created. Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Zero Tolerance for Immigration-Law Violators! We must remember the lessons of 2/26, 9/11, and the costs we bear every single day. God Bless the U S A !

By the way, Democrats are seriously against asking criminals if they are illegal aliens. The wacky person in charge of immigration committe in congress just said she is against asking a criminal about their immigration status. Zoe Lofgren is the chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law.
Zoe Lofgren refused to allow an African-America to talk to her committe about how illegal aliens are causing problems for the African American community. Republicans overruled her by setting up a special committe to listen to the man's concerns.
"As the star witness, Republican panel members called T. Willard Fair, a self-described civil rights activist who called amnesty for illegal immigrants “a slap in the face for black Americans” in newspaper ads that ran last week.
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), the panel’s ranking member, cited House rules to request the hearing after subcommittee Chairwoman Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) declined to allow what King asserted was commonplace rule-bending to accommodate the minority’s choice of witnesses for a hearing held last Thursday.
