I'll tell you what worked for me.
Just read it. Start from one end to the other. Repeat this over and over. It takes a long time.
I would recommend starting in the New Testament.
Keep a note book and take notes such as baptism I write that at the top of a page and as I'm reading and I cross a topic I have written to know more about, I write the scripture in that page and maybe a little of the word so in future references I know what that scripture is talking about.
Example:
Baptism
Mark 16:16 believeth and baptized shall be saved
Matthew 28: 18-20 teach all nations baptizing them
and so on this helps me esp. when something is brought up and I can go to my notes if I can't remember.
My notebook is the same size as my bible and I keep it in the back of my bible cover so whether I am at church or where ever I can add to the notes on any topic.
At the present time I have about 60 topics about various things that may come up. I just add over the years and never stop studying and learning.
The facts are often more than just one scripture. Sometimes it is the entire chapter.
Continual reading and studying is nessecary. When you know the storys and how the people of God handled every situation and how God directed them you'll begin to understand the mind of God. When you get to that place you know beyond the shadow of a doubt that with God nothing is impossible.
I don't know if I can stress enough the importance to continue reading and studying. If you could set aside maybe just a few minutes every day it would be very benifical to you.
You'll soon find that when you need the scriptures God will bring it to your rememberance.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself aproved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The Holy Bible (King James Version) is the only book I read. The King James Version was translated from the original text. Other translations have been weakened down and have lost some meanig. I know some people say read other versions but you will find that in the long run it will be far more productive to read the KJV. I have read it through many times I have a strong love for the Word of God. I hope you will develope what I have. I can't think of a better thing I would want to study. I'll pray for you, that God will help you.
I've answered nearly 400 questions and I don't know of one that I have been more concerned about. I hope you will recieve what you are looking for.
Hope this helps you, it's pretty simple.
If I can be of anymore help or if you have more questions email me. I'll be more than happy to help you in anyway I can.

Pray and ask God what He would like you to learn, or pray and read something that interests you alot. I am interested in the rapture and I can memorize scripture, although not always exactly as it is, but I can remember the chapter and verses, such as 1Thessalonians 4:16-18 and 1Corinthians 15:51-52 and what it is about and I have also just by practice and witnessing, learned where all the verses that tell you to become born again (saved) are, Such as John 3:3, and John 3:16, etc. Everyone has their own way and it will come to you. Just pray about it. Also once you are born again, the Bible seems so easy to understand. Before I was saved it really didn't make sense to me, but now it just seems so easy to read.

Get yourself an English Standard Version Study Bible, or a Teen study bible. There are notes and explanations from many scholars about the history of the passage you are reading. It also has information about the book and the author too. It also has information about the Greek or Hebrew (or Aramaic) language which are the languages the Bible was written in.
You can e-mail me with any questions...I can get you more resources.

I am a teacher. The best way that I have found to memorize is through actions and song.
For example: Ephesians 6:10-11 was my memory verse for my class last week. As we were saying it we did motions.
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
I start out saying the words and teaching the motions. After a few times of repetition I just make the motions and see if the class can recite the words on their own.
You can do this for just about everything. I used this technique for helping my children memorize the U.S states and their capitals...you just have to be creative with the motions.
Like...Topeka, Kansas. My family will never forget the capital of that state.
Just have fun and be creative...it really helps.

Are you able to buy a Study Bible? They cost $29 to $39.
Pray before every attempt to read and study the Bible. The Holy Spirit is able to make Bible verses come back to your memory whenever you need them.
You are one of the smartest 13 yr. olds by attempting to study the Bible.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."
Make sure you can memorize John 3:16

As I began to study scriptures I did it as we are instructed in the book of Isaiah line upon line verse by verse precept upon precept....
As I matured I aquired a study bible (I use Bullinger KJV Companion Bible) and also a copy of Strongs coded to the Hebrew and Greek.
As we grow and mature in the word there are scriptures that will stick in our minds and come to memory yet I don't believe our Heavenly Father expects us to quote all the scriptures verbatem and commit them to memory (quite a feat) from Genesis to Revelation.
It's quite amazing though how some scriptures do stay with us and it's my understanding then that when we have sincerely committed ourselves to studying and searching the scriptures led by the Holy Spirit who promised us that He would lead us into all truth those important scriptures pop into our minds at the time we need them.
All praise and glory to our Heavenly Father for your continued interest and pray He reveals His wisdom and the "facts" to you in a profound way.

least complicated and works-I have memorized over 200 bible verses.
get a King James Bible-it is poetic and made to memorize
other versions are like trying to memorize the newspaper.
get little cards index cut into quarters-have an elastic band to keep them together.
then write out a verse on one-with the reference Bible verse and subject/topic word the best one you think goes with it below
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I may not sin against thee.
Psalm 119:11 memorize(topic)
________________________________________---
on the back side write
25 20 15 10 5 1
the first day say it 25 times by memory-if forget or unsure look and make sure your gettin it right. if you have to look or make a mistake dont count it but keep the same number and finish and circle the number
the next day do it 20 times-and if you would like begin a new one at 25 times
when you get to 1 do it for a week-and then review once a week
once you get the pattern down its a piece of cake -and works perfectly
most important first is that you have Jesus in your heart=
learning to have my soul fulfilled in prince of peace =Isaiah 9:6 to be born the Son and almighty God, the prince of peace. life is a natural happening-=
what helped me most is believing in truth-Jesus says I am the way the truth and the life, no one cometh unto heaven but by me, repent of your sins -even one lie and let me into your heart to be your friend and help you. John 14:6, John 3 and Revelation 3:19&20 where Jesus also says he unconditionally loves us, "I love you, and knock on your heart door to come in deliver from sins (even one lie) and be your friend, if you repent and ask me in."
do great and I am prayin for you-if you like try other 'easier ways' but keep a copy of this way-it will be the one way that works, and I am very very proud of you, David

FACTS? Facts in the Bible? There are more facts in a story about Tooth Fairy, than in the Bible.
You are 13, you should be trying really hard to learn math and history, English and science and other subjects in school and have fun as a normal kid, and not waste your time on useless "facts" from the Bible.

Once an old Cherokee lady told me the best way to learn the bible was to get a notebook and a pencil and read, making notes. She said draw out pictures of what happened in each verse or two, until you can understand what you have read. Don't go past a word you don't know until you find out what it means.
I spent a long time trying to find out what/where 'Nod' was, after Cain went there......it means wandering. Slow but I've never learned more than that way.

I think if you read the Bible daily and attend Sunday School or a youth group Bible study you will begin to memorize things without even realizing it. Sometime somebody will say something about a Bible verse and you will follow it up with the next verse, or a similar one. Trust me, being daily in the Word is best.
