I know many in my circle that likewise would vote for Rudy...most of my friends are social liberals and fiscal conservatives...and Rudy fits that bill...if he can get the Republican nomination, I think he is a shoe in for president.

However, if Newt or Romney, or any other extremely conservative person runs, my circle will have to continue to vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is....and I think then the Republican party will not be able to hold onto the Presidency

-Your thoughts?
-Do you think someone with forward thinking social views, as Rudy has can be nominated by the Republican party...considering the base is fundamentalist Christians? -Would the fundamentalists be willing to support Rudy over conservative like Newt, if it meant they could hold onto the Presidency?
-Or will the fundamentalists insist on a social conservative...even if it means they will lose the election?

I vote against the fundys, only sane way to vote. Rudy is definitely not a fundy's guy, and there are too many nutbag fundys in the GOP for Rudy to win the nomination, sadly. However the fundys would vote in a goat rather than go with a polytheistic mormon who believes that he is going to be a God himself someday (all mormon men get to be Gods over their own planets if they're really good), so it looks like McCain will likely be the man. I could live with McCain, he gives the fundys lip service, but nothing more. Anybody else and I would have to go with the Democratic nom, even though there are no good options there. Unless Al runs, of course!

Rudy will never get the Repub nomination because the GOP knows if he does the Dems, no matter who their candidate is, win in a landslide. Furthermore, Rudy views are not conservative enough on many issues. He is more of a conservative Dem than anything else. His chances with the GOP are slim to none.

I tend to agree with you. We really do need to cut spending and balance our budget. The multi-trillion dollar deficit run up by Bush and his cronies needs to be cut by at least half in the next four years.

Rudy has shown good fiscal conservatism and is in fact more of a traditional secular 'Republican' than many of the other Republicans who seem more, 'Theocratic' and willing to play political games with the Christian fundamentalists.

I'm sorry, I'm Christian but I am not voting for ANY candidate who takes the Genesis story LITERALLY.

Rudy's a little too moderate for me to consider him a true Republican, but if he does win the nomination I will vote for him. I've voted Republican since I've been able to vote. If Romney wins the nod, I will vote enthusiastically for him. I like his views best out of any candidate running.

Besides, any of the Republican candidates are better than Hillary.

Well, personally I don't think Rudy will be the guy. Probably Fred Thompson or McCain. But anyone of them is better than any democrat. Billery don't have a chance in h*ll. More people will vote against her then would have voted for any other Dem.

No, just look at what the republicans have done to our world we need a democrat president at this time. The dems may make just as big a mess of it, but at least there may be a chance that way. Billery is exponentially more intelligent than our current white house IQ

I would vote for him in a second! As mayor of NY he showed class and dignity during 9/11. He fought for what was right in NYC and didn't care who he had to fight. He is a leader. No question about it.

Go Rudy! Go!

i think of you're a sucker, i'm going to guess any quantity that as quickly as he gets elected he will (guillani) replace his track to be extra according to something of the republican celebration "would the fundamentalists be prepared to assist Rudy over conservative like Newt, if it meant they'd carry onto the Presidency" no, even though it probable does not rely if quillani ought to get help from moderates and specific some democrats

I consider myself a Goldwater republican but after bush I think I have to go democrat for a few more years. I can't risk it.

He will get ripped apart by the NYFD though. You will hear more 9/11 BS than you can believe.

Rudy is running. There's no if about it.

If he emerges as the Republican front-runner, he has my vote over that fascist Hillary Clinton.
