Mmmmm... possible. My friend is constantly raving about quantum universes and infinite alternate existences, etc etc. Sometimes I think there's something to what he's saying and other times I think he's just an enthusiastic student of weird science.

It's possible, there is some evidence for it but it's not conclusive.
I find the idea hard to wrap my head around because when I think about the universe, it is the name given for everything that exists. Personally I never thought it had a border or anything like that. I could have completely misunderstood from when I learned the word many years ago. But if parallel/multiple universes do exist, I'll have to change the way I think about the word universe.
I'm sure many atheists would say the same thing, if evidence were to come up that disproves what I currently think, I would have to think something different, something better supported by evidence.
That's how it's done theists!

Excellent and very interesting question and it looks like you've got some very interesting answers...
Like another one of your answerers, I have always considered the word 'universe' to encompass literally everything. All of space, stars, planets, etc. I've always imagined the 'universe' as an infinite plane although I've always found that incredibly difficult to imagine. I find the idea of multiple or parallel universe(s) very interesting (and your question has actually inspired me to do some research).
To answer your question I think the idea of parallel or mutliple universes quite possible and would be very interested to learn more about the theories and if I remember correctly there was an article on the subject in National Geographic Magazine...

Possible. But if I understand the quantum stuff that comes out of the Copenhagen interpretatiion, and it's successors, they have to be perpendicular universes, not parallel. No "popping across" to something similar, no matter how much that is beloved of SF writers.
And then theres the "cosmic foam" proposition, which makes our universe one of myriads (Though it's the only one *we've* got).
If it's every possible universe, and there's an infinite number, then in some Jesus was divine and rose from the dead, and in some he wasn't and didn't?
That's not intuitive or comfortable as a Christian or an atheist.

Coming from a Buddhist; residing Universe & Humanity's destiny: Visionary author Duane Elgin said how our universe is uniquely alive and how this paradigm can help us artwork in the route of a sustainable destiny. the concept of a residing universe has been shared by utilising many non secular traditions and now there is medical information for it, he reported. He defined fairly some attributes that help the conception of an alive universe: * that's unified extremely than fragmented. * power (together with 0 factor) flows by it. * that's a dynamic device, regenerated second by utilising second. * It has sentience. Elgin believes that an infinite intelligence created this universe and different universes. Cosmologically, there are infinite dimensions, and we are only on the floor floor of evolution, with our 3 or 4 dimensions, he commented.

I wouldn't rule it out, but I have no idea how we'd go about verifying their existence. If a universe is parallel to ours, it should have no contact or intersect with ours. Maybe we need a perpendicular universe to travel between the two.

I have a theory that there are infinite realities based on perception. For instance if one believes in the Bible, then they are living in a timeline where Jesus did come down as the Son of God. If another believs in big bangs and evolution than that too is true in their timeline. Imagine the whole universe, and beyond all being whatever you want it to be.
But to answer your question, I'd say very possible.

There might be, yes... multiple dimensions, no. Other universes, probably but I'd need a whole lot more evidence to make that a definite.

Im a Muslim but i believe so. it's quite arrogant to think that we are the only creations and ours is the only universe created. They do exists and they do have certain purposes and trials. God is Great and He has power over all things. we have tyo transcend our limited notions of God. If you don't agree that's ok.

Yes, I strongly believe in the many minds intepretation of quantum mechanics which is a many worlds model where collapse is the result of brain algorithm divergence. This is by far the simplest explaination of reality which accounts for quantum mechanics in my opinion. I further believe reality is based on necessary tautological mathematics.
My beliefs are based on evidence ( especially the fact reality is describable by quantum laws). And large amounts of reason.
