I don't believe in love at first sight. Do you?

I really only knew him a few days when he told me this. I like him, but not that much. I just don't want to hurt him.

I had the same experience. I told him, "You aren't in love with me. You don't even know me." He didn't take it well but we became friends afterwards. Sometimes the truth is difficult to deal with but it's much better than leading someone on and getting to a place neither of you want to be in.

I woke up this morning with the qn in my head "does love at first sight happen?" After a few mins pondering I remembered as a teen I thought I was in love with a guy as soon as I clapped eyes on him. then there were the romances where there was something, but not quite love, adn it wasn't at first sight. THere definately needs to be a spark, butterflies in the tummy from both involved in the relationship if it really is going to work out, Otherwise, it's not worth pursuing. There may be such a thing as "lust at first sight" but quite honestly, as I've got older I believe that love is a very deep thing that may evolve at a different pace between some couples than others. I think films and books have sadly painted a very unrealistic scenario where person A and B are pleased with each other 24/7, yet in reality, people are unpredictable and you cannot determine your happiness based on another human, so to love another for who they truly are, you MUST know them. I mean REALLY know them. Know their faults, past experiences, horrible stories, nasty habits, loveable traits, etc and accept them for who they are, warts and all. So I suppose this really does take a lot of time and cannot be merely summarised instantly in the initial physical attraction between two people, and put down to the fairy fantasy of "love at first sight."

Yes, I do believe in 'love at first sight' ... but I think that you need to 'take the time' to get to know this guy and find out more about him ... and tell him that 'up front' ...

No, I don't, but you didn't say how long you've known the guy. Recently can have many meanings. My now fiancee told me he loved me after only 2 weeks. I thought that was way too soon, but I felt the same way soon after and things worked out just fine for us!
