It means "what is happening", or "what is going on", or "what are you doing", or "what are/were you thinking about". It can mean many things, but it is also a greeting used to establish aknowledgement of another person. Someone could say "what's up" to a stranger, and this would be normal because many times the asker does not want an answer, they just merely want to show they are friendly and notice the person they are speaking to.

It's a greeting that is said not really wanting an answer. Say "Nothing really"!
C'est une salutation qui est ne dite voulant pas vraiment une réponse. Dire « Rien vraiment » !

It is a greeting like "comment allez-vous"
Literally it means what new things are happening in your life.
It is not meant to be answered except by something like "not much".

It's kind of like a ice breaker to start up a conversation. It means what have you been up to.

"What's up?" is an American English expression that's slang for "hello", "How are you?", and similar expressions of casual greeting. It is used primarily as a greeting, or casual inquiriy in the place of "what are you doing?"

Its like saying "hello" or "whats going on?". This term should only be used among your friends or people you are most comfortable with. People in your age group.

Literally, it means "what's going on in your life right now as we speak?" Like "Que paso?" in Spanish.
