Don't follow any advice that includes you rinsing your mouth on the day of the extraction and the day after, you can dislodge the blood clots which can lead to dry socket: any socket in which a patient is having pain due to the loss of the blood clot thus exposing the bone to air, food, and fluids along with an offensive odor. This often occurs two or more days after an extraction and can last about 5-6 days. I hope that you were given instructions as to what to do after an extraction.

My dentist after my extractions (like you I pulled all four wisdom tooth, but thankfully not all at the same time) told me:
1. Do not spit, rinse or brush your teeth up to 24 hours after the extractions.
2. Do not drink very hot or cold liquids.
3. Do not smoke, drink alcohol or drink from straws.
4. No vigorous physical activity for at least 48 hours. (That includes sex.)

As to your question about losing the blood clots, I am pretty sure you are safe, since the stitches pretty much encase them. I am sure you didn't intentionally make yourself sick, but I say go veg out in front of the TV or go take a nap. Give your body a chance to heal. Good luck, that number of teeth out must hurt and use some packs of frozen veggies for the swelling.

The blood is normal and won't affect clotting. This is normal. Be sure not to spit b/c this could prevent clotting of the stitched area though. And do not be rinsing w/ salt water forsefully. It is okay to VERY gently swish very slightly with salt water. Things should begin calming down by tomorrow, if they don't let your oral surgeon know. Also, if you keep getting sick you need to get some nausea meds though. Usually the oral surgeon will prescribe something if needed, or it may be included in your pain script he prescribed.

hiya i am dental nurse and i also had 4 wisdom teeth out at once not long ago.....try not to panic what your feeling and experiencing is normal your mouth had a huge trauma and it will take time to get over it....you swallowed alot of blood when they were extracted and that was what the old blood was it shouldn't affect your wounds at all.....remember wait a few hours then rinse your mouth with luke warm salty water this will keep it clean and do not smoke or its likely to get infected...if tomorrow u still have concerns call your dentist who will answers any questions u have

No. The blood is from your stomach, I did exactly the same thing when I had a bone graft put into my mouth, they had to take about 7 teeth out to get to my gums and I threw up a load of blood but my wound was fine.

Glad you got rid of that junk in your stomach! Now you can start to feel better.[ I did the same thing, so did my son. ] The blood you vomited won't affect healing.
Follow all the doctors instructions, take any prescribed pills as directed, drink a lot [ no straws! ] and take vitamins.
Take something for pain for the first couple days, don't wait until you're miserable; sleep a lot; try to eat well - you'll heal much faster.

.If the blood is a bright red colour (more pink than maroon ! ) then it is fresh and coming from the sockets, but if it is dark in colour it is old blood. If you do decide to rinse the area, recommend you do so very gently and with a small, luke warm saline solution. Do not swish it around the mouth vigorously, just gently bathe the areas. (taste not good, but boy does it help the sockets to heal)

Take anti-inflammatories on regular basis to help reduce any swelling.

Call your oral surgeon's office and ask them about it. It probably didn't hurt anything, but it's better to know now than later (when you might get an infection).

I had my wisdom teeth removed a while back but I remember a lot of blood had pooled in my mouth. Even though it was gross, I felt better the next day and even went shopping! (only ate lemon yogurt though...)

hey there, i had the same, you vomited as there was too much blood in your stomach! but anyway, may i suggest you lightly swish ur mouth with salty water to ward off infections,, i did it every 2 hours for 3-4 days, it will also prevent dry socket. unfortantly vomit is not really the most clean, sterile thing. i trust you have stoped being sick now and things can only get better for you.

I think you should be ok. Take a black tea bag and wet it with cold water and put it on the area where the tooth was removed. It will stop the bleeding and help clot the blood.

No, don't worry about it. Like you said, it's just swallowed blood and won't affect the healing process. 4 wisdom teeth in one go is pretty major!
