He was an American fundamentalist Baptist preacher who shot his mouth off about a lot of things. He was supposedly in support of family values and really came down on homosexuals. I think he was the one who was against the Teletubbies and Spongebob Squarepants, saying there were homosexual undertones in those shows. Looks like he just died today, from the headlines. I had to laugh, one of the headlines said, "Jerry Falwell in a 'grave' state." Well, I guess if he's dead, that's pretty grave.

Dr. Falwell wasn't evil. He was hated by many liberals because he preached God's Word without sugar coating it. He wasn't afraid of offending people if it meant not compromising his own convictions.
You'll hear many people spew things like, "Falwell was a hatemonger." "He hated gays", this and that. I assure you they are empty accusations with no basis in fact.
What some people will do is take one sentence someone says that by itself appears to mean or imply one thing. However, they leave out the part that comes before and after. Most of the time, it's out of context because those parts weren't included in their accusation. This makes it appear that what someone or something says is evil.
Always question what anyone tells you. See if it lines up with scripture. If not, then you know that it's evil.
As for how he died, Dr. Falwell has had heart problems for quite some time.

He was a fundamentalist like Brezhnev or the Aytolollah Khomeni or Mao or Sharon or Hamas' leadership. He was a hard core Christian.
To condem him is no different than to condem the current Ayotollah in Iran or the leaders of Hamas or the leader of Israel or the previoius leader of France.
All are hard core extremists holding to the far right.
All are orthodox or conservative.
To condem one is to condem all.
Anyone who is at the extreme side of the spectrum, be it PETA or GREENPEACE, who stands up for what they believe even if it goes against the interests of others or the rights of others in the name of some "cause" is no different.
There is no difference between people who deface mink coats with spray paint, then Falwell and his views.
They are just as radical, except he did nothing we know to be illegal.
He's just an extremist with extremist views.
What we are seeing here on this forum is REACTIONARY WANNA BE FACISTS who would like to see freedom of speach and freedom of expression CURTIALED because it hurts their sensiblities.
They are expressing their views. DEATH is the ultimate CENSOR.
I'll wager a lot of people felt the same way when Nixon died or George Wallace or in the future when Osama is put into the ground.
The botton line is NO ONE has ever ACCUSED or CONVICTED Falwell of murder, rape, stealing or any other serious offense I am aware of.
He just spoke his mind, like it or not.
Do you believe mind control? Censorship. You don't like Commies you to prevent them from talking, writing, publishing, making movies like McCarthy did in the 1950s
To put it bluntly, Karl Marx just died.
The Capitalists are having a field day!

nicely it won't mean plenty different than that's information. Rev. Falwell were somewhat marginalized these days via taking extra severe positions that different conservatives and people of religion weren't keen to stick to him on.

Yes, he died. He was one of the founders of the Religious Right and organizers of the powerful Christian Coalition. The guys who helped get President Push and his cronies into office, work every day to erode the wall between Chruch and State, and despreately seek to turn the United States into a theocracy in thier image.

He was a tv evangelist and head of the moral majority. I don't trust tv evangelists, so never paid any attention to him, but I feel for the family, its hard to lose someone you love. Seems we have more than a few haters around here, can't even seem to surpress kicking a dead guy, how sad.
