Granite is second only to diamonds in hardness, heat resistant and durable.Granite is an excellent product for use in kitchens and other food preparation areas. Under normal conditions it is stain, chip, scratch, and burn resistant. Like any other countertop material, if cleaned regularly and properly granite poses no health or sanitation problems. Marble is not recommended for use in the kitchen because of its tendency to stain and scratch.Using marble as a cutting surface will result in scratches as if cutting on a piece of wood.Marble should not be used in kitchens as excessive heat can cause damage and potentially leave scars or burn marks. If you get granite make sure it is properly sealed
I hope this helped I have granite in my kitchen and love it. However there is this stuff called ceasarstone
( Concetto)and pyrolava that are very attractive and dont have the cost behind granite

Granite is a much better choice. It’s strength and beauty are impeccable. Marble you have to worry about staining and scratching. Marble is a much softer stone, if you don’t mind the rustic look go with marble, since it will age much faster.. On the other hand granite can last a lifetime and as time passes it ages very little. After 50 years it will still look as good as the day you put it in the kitchen. As long as you take proper care of it.

Granite is far far harder and less porous. Marble can stain easily and cannot take the heat that granite can.
Marble is cool to the touch and is enjoyed by pie bakers and fudge makers as a beautiful surface to roll out dough on. But it is not suitable for the other areas of the kitchen.

granite is the best product available for any kitchen. Laminate and other solid surface countertops have become outdated, and natural stone has a classic beauty that will always last. Granite is completely natural and is the most durable and longest lasting product available. It can resist heat of thousands of degrees.

Granite is a sturdier stone and although it needs to be sealed and re-sealed occasionally, you don't have to be as protective with it. Marble is very porous so things can stain and mar it much easier. New home builders lean toward granite and corian or even silestone these days.
