A lot of this stuff, along with Leviticus is just basically like ancient building codes and health department regulations.
Reading some higher holy purpose into it is just silly.
It's mostly hygeine and public well-being stuff, in a circa 1000 BC mindset.
Don't trip on it literally, especially if you are reading an English translation of ancient Greek and Aramaic.

You speak of Deuteronomy 23:14, not 23:13.
Anyway, that's showing respect.
Not only that, it keeps everyone in the village from getting sick. God knew that leaving it uncovered would cause sickness to spread.
Same reason we have plumbing systems today.

Well, this is another one of those 'things' isn't it. I mean, one of those 'things' that people glop onto in order to act like the Bible is ridiculous.
But in the four different translations that I looked at, no where is there the text that says that God might walk in it. I think that you are reading that into it. It was a call to keep the 'holy' ( dedicated) camp clean.

Oh, read the next verse - your answer is there.
Deu 23:14 for Jehovah thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy, that he may not see an unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
NOTICE it says "that He may not SEE and unclean thing"
Nothing about walking.
See, that is what happens when you take things out of context. And that goes for Fundies and Atheists alike.

It doesnt say to cover it cuz he might step in it . it says that God didnt want any unclean things in the camp....I dont see anything about God stepping in it anywhere.
If i was God and I was coming to deliver my people I wouldnt want to see poop lying everywhere...

I have an easier one, if God is all knowing then how come he asked Adam and Eve what they had done? Why would he have to ask what Cain did to Aibel?

"Thou shall have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be when thou wilt ease thyself abroad thou shall dig therewith and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee"
Pretty much says when you do your business, with the respect for other MEN, get rid of it.
