We cannot help you, you have to help yourself, "NEVER" watch those kinds of movies, that has violence, always watch comedy, that will cheer you up.
Eat ice creams, its good for the soul, go for walks, get some fresh air, listen to love songs, at first you will have to force yourself to do this, but then next day you will feel the difference, just try it.
When you wake up, plan your day, what you are going to do? and then work on it, get busy.

The problem probably isn't television, or even completely the events you are watching. Depression, and possible other problems, can cause a decreased ability to deal with, well, depressing things. The suffering of others affects us all, but people who are also suffering from depression may not have the ability to empathize (or even act to alleviate some of the suffering) without feeling an almost crippling reaction. There is treatment available if this sounds like what you're experiencing. You can talk to your physician, a psychiatrist or other mental health worker, or if you're really suicidal, call your crisis line. You can get the number from 911 if you need it.

In my case it was reading the daily newspaper that I found so depressing. If you're at the end of your tether, try ringing the Samaritans - 08457 909090. In fact I think you should make this a first priority. St Johns Wort is supposed to be good for depression, although I've never tried it myself - and I've read that that there's something in bananas that have a calming effect. Bach Flower Rescue Remedy may also help. This can be bought at any chemist. It (almost) goes without saying that should visit your GP about this and see if he can prescribe anything for you. However, as I said earlier, make the Samaritans a priority. I wish you all the best.

If watching the news triggers it, then DON'T watch the news.
Feeling suicidal for ANY reason is very serious, I myself went through a stage like that in High School. You need to go see a doctor immediately. They can help with either therapy, medication or both. Don't wait another second, call your doctor and have them refer you to someone that specializes in depression. Try to focus on the good things in life and look forward, not down.

I'm with everyone else, turn off the news. You may be depressed. If you are going to hurt yourself, go to the ER and get screened and get help. Call 911 and they will take you there. Otherwise, please consult a mental health professional to evaluate your suicidal feelings and determine if you can benefit from treatment. You should not have to feel so bad!
If you or someone you know has thoughts of death or suicide, contact a medical professional, clergy member, loved one, friend or hospital emergency room or call 1-800-273-8255 (TALK), 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433) or 911 immediately.

You are over reacting to bad news. I also feel that way and therefore do not watch the news. Ignorance is bliss. I would suggest that you seek a cousilor of some sorts and talk about why you feel so helpless.

Keep the tv off!!! The news can be so dissappointing. Go find help. There should be a crisis help line around your area. If you cannot afford it, there are places that can help offset the cost. You should be evaluated by a mental health facility.

Stop watching T.V. Especially the news, they should rename it The Bad News, there's rarely any positive stuff on. Then go to a doctor man.
