My ex and I broke up 3 months ago. The breakup was sudden, unexpected and very cruel. The REAL bad news is, we work together 8 hours a day. I'm still in a great deal of pain and anger; I'm not even considering dating. She, on the other hand, has taken up with someone I know and I feel she's rubbing my nose in it. She calls him all the time from work, and even brought him through the office today! Is this decent behavior? It really hurts me when she does this(yes, I know it's over). How do I deal with this? I can't get out of the department for at least several weeks, and quitting isn't an option.

This happen to once when I dated a girl at work. We ended up moving in together so we spent 8 hours a day at work then our evenings together. When she broke up with me it was hell. You have 8 hours of hell per day. I had 16 hours of hell a day until the lease was up...
1st. Realize this break-up was NOT unexpected to her. She was planning this break-up months in advance. It was only 3 months ago that she was able to pull the trigger. This means she has been disengage from you much longer than 3 months and has had more time than you to recover..
2nd . Assuming, you both had some very good times together she still has some feelings towards you. This explains the rubbing your nose in it and bringing the guy to work.

For me, after this break-up, I started making myself go out and meet other woman. After a few months I had a new GF. Then after this my ex suddenly got VERY jealous! I did not rub her face in it. I never talked to her about my personal life. Though I did keep picture of my new GF at my desk. She wanted me back.... Do this.
1. Do NOT show any jealousy to her or this guy. If you meet him be VERY polite and friendly. fake it until you aren't acting anymore and feel genuine friendliness towards this new guy.
2. Make yourself meet other girls. Your mind won't be a 100% into it and you may find yourself sticking your foot in your mouth a lot. That is OK. Keep getting yourself out there.
3. Get another girl even if you are only 80% into her.
4. If your ex get jealous...do NOT take her back. I made this mistake and I paid a price for this foolishness.
Time + New Girl = Getting over It Faster
Plus if she gets jealous over your new GF, your ego will get redeemed. Trust me on this, do NOT take her back if this happens... I would spare you the pain that I suffered by taking her back... Success with a new woman is the best revenge...

She is wrong for that, but you're gonna have to find the strength to not dwell on it too much. She could be hurting too, and is doing this to make you feel bad (because she feels bad). I know that may seem confusing, but it is irrationally logical when it comes to the female mind and dealing with a breakup. I hope things will get better for you. ; )

While you 'feel' she is rubbing your nose in it, do you think she is a person that would deliberately hurt your feelings?

Focus on something else. What you focus on expands. So if you continuely notice her on the phone with him, etc. that is what will grow. Get up and leave, go on a break, go to the men's room, talk to someone else, get on the phone yourself.

Good luck to you.
