Because I was feeling rather warm, like I had a fever, I asked if she would take my temperature. She just ignored my request and left. Was is too much of me to ask the nurse to take my blood pressure? Isn't that one of the most basic things that they should do when you go in for an examination? What the heck are they being payed for? I feel like complaining to somebody, but I'm not exactly sure who I should complain to.Any suggestions?

That is one thing she should have done along with your blood pressure, heartrate, and respiration rate. These are all basic vital signs you do on all patients. She definitely should have taken your temp if you expressed that you felt you had a fever. It only takes a few seconds to do.
Complain to the doctor if it is a private practice, or to the medical director or administrator of the clinic or hospital you were at.

Call and ask to speak to the office manager, and express your concerns. If you feel that you are not receiving good medical care, look for another doctor, and be sure to let this one know why you left.

It is standard to take a full set of vital signs, including BP, pulse, temperature, and weight.

The worst part is that you feel dissatisfied with your care. Speak up. Others may be having the same problem, and that nurse may need some guidance with regard to patient care.

Ignore what the nurse did. Different physicians want different things from their nurses and there are too many things you are not in a position to know. The important thing is the physicians performance. Look carefully at this. If you are not satisfied, complain by choosing another next time.

You should complain directly to your doctor. He hired her. He is paying her to do her job. If she doesn´t do it, he should know it to take care of her.
If it was in a hospital you can talk to public relations or ask to talk with the chief nurse.

They took my blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and felt my glands, and I was just dropping off a box of cotton swabs by UPS.

Dr's always have nurses weigh you and take your blood pressure. It gives the Dr time to finish his patient he is with when your appt is. I have a policy I don't wait for the Dr, my time is every bit as valuable as theirs. I have left several times, telling the nurse to have him call me for an appt. The room before the exam rooms is the Ante room, not the waiting room. I charge $100.00 an hour or part there of for waiting, paid in cash
