The Bible says this because God was talking to his only begotten son, Jesus. Jesus was the only creature personally made by God. After that, all things were made using Jesus. Proof is found in Col. 1: 15-17 and John 17: 5.
"Our image",by the way, refers to the qualities humans posess but not always demonstrate. Love, justice, kindness, righteousness, etc.

Look, this is the Father speaking to the Holy Spirit. "Let us". And when he created man into their image he made them male and female. So, thats why many think the Holy Spirit represents the female. Probably the son was also present,

Why do most Fairy Tales start "Once upon a Time"? God sais let US make man in OUR image after OUR likeness....also...The man (ADAM) has become as one of US, to know good and evil.... What language did God speak and Who was he talking to? If Jesus was God's son before man was created, then God must have had a wife ( Female companion) or is God a hemorphidite? He did create mankind as Male AND Female (after OUR likeness).

all 5 of my bibles (all of them different, King James, Life Application, Amplified, Couples devotional bible, a regular) say he made man in his OWN image.

The Trinity was in the beginning. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Later, we find out that Jesus and the Holy Spirit were also there. You must read and study to find this but GOD is a Part of the Trinity, FATHER, SON, & HOLY SPIRIT. Have a wonderful week.

Genesis 1:26. I know this one myself. Brian here stated because of the "trinity" but the Hebrews do not "believe" in the "trinity." The "original" word on manuscript if I am not mistaken was "Elohim." "Gods," not "God." Much of the "original" works were changed when translated into English because it was "convenient" for christians to believe in monotheistic values, when in FACT ancient hebrews didn't believe in just one "God' but MANY. REVISIONS over the course of 30 centuries is WHAT you get in today's world of these ?"holy words............"

Go re-read it. It says we were created in HIS image. So, we have His attributes, not his physical image as we all look slightly different.
