I was quoted at $125.00 to have a simple tax return filed...is this a fair estimate..is it too high or too low?

If it's simple and you qualify in terms of your annual income, it's free to file electronically. The IRS has a link you can find out more from: you just click on one of the companies you can file with and work from there. Most of the companies say your income must be below $50,000 a year (and I think there are some that say 30K a year but you get the basics...).

It's impossible to judge. My firm charges over $1,000, with many clients being billed many times that amount.

Tax return preparation is a service. Like many services, the billing is based on the amount of time required. How many W-2s have to be entered, do you have itemized deductions? How many states must be prepared (if you live in one state and work in another, usually you must file in both states, but you will get a credit on the tax return of your resident state)

Your question is like asking how much does it cost to get a meal at a restaurant. Which restaurant, what type of food, etc. all factor into that answer.

company tax is a properly-loved tax with politicians because of the indisputable fact that's only approximately invisible. u . s . will pay a greater robust company tax, only approximately two times the time-honored in Europe. If u . s . diminished its company tax, American companies may be greater aggressive in international commerce.

If the return is truly "simple", that is WAY to high. What YOU consider simple may not be simple.
