I have read posts here saying how wonderful people like Bill Gates is because he gives so much to charity and great causes, and I say *SO* what's the challenge for a Billionaire to give some of that money away because first and foremost he needs to just for his tax burden alone.
But how about the individuals that have a hard time making thier bills, or putting food on the table, but they still give away some of the money as little as it might be for GOD's purpose?

Rich people give money to the poor because it puts them in a LOWER tax bracket, and it benefits them tremendously!!
I wish I could tell you that they do it from the goodness of their heart's,but they don't....SORRY

I agree. In fact studies have show that Christian give more money per capita than any other group including the Rich.
Bill Gates money is actually hindering his connection with god because he has no reason to recognise the need for God.
We should help the poor but we must do it in Jesus name searching no publicity. If I came into money some how I would immediately give the Marjory to the church because I would not want it to interfere with my walk.

I don't think that God particularly cares. He may motivate the people to give the money away because He certainly cares for those starving out on the streets. However, on Judgment Day, Oprah is not going to be able to defend her rejection of Christ with all of the "wonderful" things she has done to help people. If we were saved and did good deeds then we would be rewarded in heaven... however, no matter how great it may seem - no "good deed" can save a person. It is filthy rags in the sight of God. Actually in the Hebrew, "filthy rags" is "used menstrual cloths"!

well, relating to your story of the old lady giving only a few coins, yet this was all she had. And god said that she gave more than the man who gave a lot more than she did. I believe that if these billionaires give willingly and humbly than god would look favorably on it. But if they give for public approval and good pr then i think god won't. I think it is all what's in your heart when giving that matters.

No I don't because they are giving what they can afford to give not out of their own need. If I have a hundred bucks and I give a dollar to some homeless guy am I righteous in the eyes of God...of course not. Same thing applies if you have a million bucks

I think it is good that they do give lots away, but that does not make them better than the person of meager means that gives little. God wants us to give from the heart and out of Love for others.

Good question, I guess you just have to hope that the wealthy really give from their heart. God also said it is not right to judge others. If everyone gives what they can that's all that matters.
