If you cannot take care of it, bring him to your local animal shelter. They will give him medical attention. Even if he was not sick, you would need to get him checked out annually, and get his shots, so if money is an issue, then you should probably have gone with your gut instinct and brought it to the shelter.

My dog eats grass all the time. Dogs do it when they upset tummies.
However, puppies are expensive. You have to take them to the vet to get them dewormed and get their shots. You should also have him neutered. Obedience training too. You have to buy a dog crate, leashes, collars, etc. My dog is almost 2. A few months ago I spent $250 at the vets on her rabies shot, other booster shots, and a heartworm pill and advantix. If you can't afford this stuff, you can't afford a puppy. If you take the puppy to the pound it will be checked out by a vet there. Also he will have a much greater chance of being adopted while he's still little than when he gets bigger. Plus he probably has worms and fleas, poor little guy. Maybe you know someone who can afford the vet and wants a puppy?

he may have been so hungry that when you offered him food he may have completly stuffed himself sick over a couple of days! Maybe he ate too much. They wont always stop eating when they are full. He also could have eaten too fast, or didnt take to well to the puppy chow. But that is a good brand of dog food and you said he was ok the first couple days so I dont think its the food. He may also be a sick dog. I would watch him closely, offer smaller portions, and he if he isnt feeling better in 24 hrs, contact your local animal shelter.Sometimes they can direct you somwhere that you can recieve reduced cost animal care. Its food for him to eat grass when he is sick, it helps to digest, but make sure its not like covered in pesticides or anything. Hope this helps!

If you do not have ready available funds to take care of this dog then you need to hand it over to an animal shelter who can/will look after it & people are always looking for puppies so it would not be long till it finds a new owner.

if he was fine when you found him, what did you feed him? it could have been something he ate or picked up.

He sounds like a little piggy to me, perhaps he over ate, who knows how long the puppy had been with out food, dogs eat grass when they have an upset stomach. If you'd like to keep the puppy, just monitor him for a day or two, and get him some worm medicine.

Perhaps the puppy chow you gave to the puppy is what made him sick.

Not so long ago, many pets all over USA have died from eating pet food contaminated with poison. It's possible that the pet food you used was also contaminated.

If the puppy doesn't die, then I suggest that you avoid giving it any more pet food. Give the puppy leftovers from the food you eat.

Here is an article about the contaminated pet food:

If your in the UK you can take him to the Blue Cross - they look after animals of people who can not afford vets - they even pick the animal up in their special ambulances if the owner has a physical problem which prevents them from going to the Vet. They are amazing. We often use them for advice with medical things for our magazine London Dog Tails. You can visit our web site at www.londondogtails.com

look in ur local phone book for animal shelter type or animal welfare group possibly WWF,(world wildlife fund),they could at least suggest something even if they don't deal with domestic animals. businesses. And hopefully they can help u.It sound like he may need hes shots possibly.
If you do take the pup to the pound, enquire that they won't just put it down first,as this may happen,so be careful.
Dogs and cats also eat grass,to help with their digestive system,so the vomitting part of that is actually normal.
But if the pup is actually sick by ur judgement eg,shaking not eating, keep it warm, try to make it drink, try water or warm milk, and then try contacting the people i mentioned for advice or help.
best of luck and thanku for caring for an animal in need.

If you aren't planning on keeping the puppy, you could take it to an animal hospital and they will nurse it back to health and find a family for it.
