Some Christians do (those with what is called Dispensational theology). Some others are strongly opposed to it theologically. In practical terms though, other than the dispensationalists, the view is indifferent. They don't care.

I keep myself extremely well-informed about the Temple Mount and its various issues; I know of no "Jewish plans to destroy the ... Mosque." It's likely that God will do this for the Jews as a result of the Ezekiel 38 and 39 invasion of Israel by Russia, Iran and other Muslim nations. The Jews will then be free to rebuild, probably after the 7-year peace treaty is signed (Daniel 9:27).

As an Evangelical Christian and Zionist, I can honestly say I would NOT support a Jewish plan to do this.

I do not believe God will accept their renewed sacrifices as atonement, since the Levitical sacrificial system was fulfilled by Messiah Yeshua (Jesus); therefore, sacrifices are moot. However, I do believe God will lead the Jewish people to faith in Yeshua.

EDIT: "Scott M," I follow Dispensational Theology; you are incorrect -- dispensationalists do NOT believe there is anything we can do to hasten the next dispensation (i.e. the Tribulation).

They still need Jesus for atonement. Do I support it, yes and no. It is going to happen like it or not. The temple will be rebuilt so the Dome of the Rock must go. I am not sure how they will deal with the Muslims but it will probably have to be violently because the Muslims will respond violently. They respond violently to a cartoon image so what can we expect.

I don't think it will work quit that way but yea if they can figure out a way to do it peacefully I'd be all up for it...but I doubt very much the Muslims are going to just give it up. Maybe when the anti-christ shows up and convinces the Muslims it's no longer needed but that would be the only way I could think of.

To those that say we no longer need animal sacrifice that's true but your missing the point...it's for the fulfillment of prophecy and the return of Christ

Since the destruction of the temple you have been claiming sacrifices were no longer necessary. It would be nothing new if you reverted back to animal sacrifices because you always were turning your eyes away from God.

Nothing can cover my sin but the blood of the spotless Lamb of God. Pretty simple, yet asked every single day in some form or fashion.

Some do, but I think they believe that they can hasten the second coming of Jesus by doing so (if I remember correctly, it's supposed to be a [misinterpretation of a?] prophecy).

I don't. I think God is quite capable of deciding when it will be time for Jesus to return without our help.

Given enough time, the Muslims will do it themselves.

It amazes me that Islam can high-jack a religious holy sight, and claim it as their own. And the world supports this. It happens in India all the time.
