I think so. I think a belief is a better thing than a dogma. Believe in God, but dont decide that you're right, and everyone else is wrong. That is the HEIGHT of arrogance.

It is not arrogance. It is simple reading. The Bible clearly shows what God wants. That is why He wrote it. So humans would know who He is and why we are here.
The Bible shows how God desires to be worshipped and what is acceptable to God. Also what is NOT acceptable. This is also logical. Any leader of any group directs how the group is to move toward a goal the leader sets. This is true from a multi-national corporation down to the PTA. Why assume it to be different with God?
You look in the Bible. If a belief isn't in there or is opposed by it, then it isn't the true faith of the Bible. Example: Praying to idols. Throughout the Bible, only people opposing God worshipped idols. Israel, in the desert with Moses away, built an idol. This was so detestable that Moses broke the original laws God had made on the rocks and had to make new ones. God hated it so much he made them wander in the desert 40 years.
1 John 5: 21 "Little children, keep yourselves free from idols [false gods]." 2Cor. 6: 16, "The temple of God has no common ground with idols, and that is what we are--the temple of the living God."
Other scriptures go on to highlight this fact. It does not take many brain cells to determine that any religion using idol worship would not be approved by the God of the Bible. Not the true religion. Is it arrogant to say what the Bible already loudly says?
How do we know God cares personally about us? We are still here! He could have wiped us out by killing Adam & Eve immediately after their disobeying the one law they had. It would have been simplier. He had the right. He could have ended the question of His authority to rule His creations at any point of the 6,000 years till now. He didn't. He desires everyone to make the right choice of who we will serve.

1. Most Christians do NOT claim that they know what god wants, beyond the information in religious texts. It is their right to believe these texts, just as it is your right not to.
2. Anyone, Christian, Buddhist, Atheist, or otherwise, who possesses enough intelligence to engage in critical thought does not assume that his or her belief is "the one truth."
3. To "pretend" that god cares personally about every single one us? What is so arrogant about the Christian belief that god is personally involved in our lives? Actually, it is the antithesis of arrogance, because to believe that you must also believe that we are all as important as each other. Also, understand that it is not just Christianity that holds this belief. Many other religions, including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and even Wicca, believe in a god/goddess/deity or deities who are personally involved in the lives of individuals.
Isn't it arrogant to assume that you know what everyone of a certain religious persuasion thinks?

No. God gave us His word, the Bible, so we COULD know Him and what He wants from us. And knowing that God loves us and cares about our individual lives is also something He wants us to know. No single church organization is the "one truth"--but Jesus Christ IS the "one way" to God and eternal life with Him.
It is arrogant to believe there is no God, and that the wisdom of man is superior to the wisdom of God.

Well, of course it is. ... It's a big part of why atheism is growing soooo fast. How can 30,000 Xian sects and denominations, plus how-many-more-thousands of other religious sects all be "right"? ... And each one is against most others(?)
The obvious conclusion is that none are "right".
“If there is a God, atheism must seem to Him as less of an insult than religion.” -- Edmond de Goncourt

No. When we become Christians we are given the mind of Christ. We know what God wants, what God considers the truth, and that He cares about me.

well, i guess it might be. My gods talk to me when they need need me to do something or when i need something from them. But yeah, to think that a human could comprehend the mind of diety is pretty far fetched. i still haven't figured out what my dog is thinking about most of the time.
