youre funny - while youre at it - go ahead and ask for a self training dog that cleans up after herself ; ). Actually you can find a good list of dog breeds at dogchannel.com - you want a small breed that needs little exercise - maybe a yorkie or brussels griffon - they dont shed that much either.

You Can Have Almost Any Type Of Dog As Long As You Take It Outside A LOT!!!
My Brother Had His Border Collie In An Apartment For Almost 3 Years Before He Bought A House... Border Collies Are Great Because They're Generally Quiet Dogs And Don't Shed Very Much...They Do Shed, But Not Overly Much...
Jack Russell's Shed A LOT!!! And They Generally Need Lots Of Space Because Of Their Hyperness....
Other Breds To Consider Would Be: Daushands (Weiner Dogs), Pugs (Will Need To Be Caged), Boston Terrier, Chiuahua... Just Do Some Research To See What Type Of Dog Will Best Suit You...
Any Type Of Labrador Will Get Bored And Labs Tend To Chew When They're Bored...
You Should Crate Train Any Dog You Plan On Leaving UnAttended For The First Year Or So... I Have A Border Collie And We Don't Even Shut The Door On His Crate, He Goes In There Automatically When We're Leaving And He'll Stay In There Until We Come Home... (We Set Up A Camera To See If He Was...lol)
Good Luck :)

I have always lived in a 2-bed room apt. in NYC & had a Yorkie for 13 yrs (RIP Mickey 1-9-07). I am now living in a 1-bed room apt in PA and I have a 6 month old, 5lb Yorkie named Jazzy. The only difference now he has some grass to walk on in the complex!!!
They are truly the best kind of dog because they are Hypoallergenic, which mean no needs to worry about allergies & doesn't shed (they lose hair the way you would)
Also they really don't do a lot of barking, unless they hear someone around the door, but that's a good thing...I have attached a list of GREAT breeders, just fine your state (don't buy any dog @ a Pet store, that’s why Mickey passed away to early in his life because he was purchased at a pet store and was already sick). The breeder where I got my little guy Jazzy was Vera Cruz Farm Kennel in Reinholds, Pennsylvania. Good luck!!!

I have never seen a small dog that does not bark a lot! Dachshund's bark a lot and everyone I know who has ever had one has had problems with the dog peeing in the house all the time to mark their territory. If you are looking for a dog that does not bark and is calm I would reccomend a cat! All dogs shed, have energy, need attention, and bark. I would not reccomend getting a dog for your apartment. If you have the opportunity to rent a home with a yard that would be the time to get a dog.

Any dog you get you're going to have to walk it and provide it with plenty of exercise to keep it from taking out it's boredom on your furniture (trust me I know!). If your worried about shedding you can get a short haired dog or just brush them several times a week, which will cut down on it too. Also, there are several websites out there devoted to helping you decide on a dog, by looking at temperament, size, shedding and other qualities. I have a golden retriever/cocker spaniel mix and she is very good inside and doesn't bark all that much. Do your research and get the dog that is best for you and your needs.

a small dog with short hair that wont shed too much.jack russells fit this description but are known to be snappy and need to be well trained so they dont bite.however if you live in an apartment you must walk the dog at least twice a day because they need the free air, exercise and change of scenery.

small is the best to get however most small dogs are barkers so try to do some research if you can as you live in an apt. & the last thing you need is the neighbours complaining about the noise
good luck

It's called a cat. Hon, if this is all you can offer a dog, and you can't walk it several times a day, your dog will soon become sooooo frustrated as to tear up stuff, bark, and become a nut case, just as you would... Get a cat.

A Bichon. They don't shed, are very friendly, calm, and really don't bark much if you train them well.
