My husband and I just purchased a condo. We want to retile the bathroom in a more modern looking tile or maybe a marble or some kind of fancy tile. We are going to do it ourselves. Where can we find good prices on the tile?

I would shop around for price, because the more prettier the tile the more expensive it gets.

Your options are variable.

You can lay down linoleum too that offers a great look. Less mess and elegant quality looks.

If you have your mind made up on tile you will have fun doing it.

I've done several bathroom floors. Removing the old tile is a bummer and messy. You have to remove the toilet as well.
Then clean it up and stick down your new tile and chip it good around the toliet drain.

Then grouting it is fun.

Put your toilet back and bolt it down. always replace the wax ring if you pull that toilet and use two of them. This way you will never , never have to pull that toilet again for leaks.

Try Lowes and see what they carry on for tile.
Shop around and if you have to leave the town and try other towns especially small towns where sales are down and prices are down.
Small towns don;t do much business and will offer a great linf of tile cheaper than Lowes or any other outlet.

Look up carpet chains and chekc with them also. They carry a good line of tile cheap.

Now a days your best bet is a Home Depot or a Lowes. I don't know if you have these stores in your area, but the do-it-yourself type stores are really outpricing the mom and pop stores. Hope that helps....if you need it installed you can call one of the smaller mom and pop type stores. They are usually very fair as far as pricing goes. The reason they do not offer the actual tiles as cheap as the bigger stores is because they don't buy the nearly the amount of product as the big guys. If they could, they would. Hope that helps...please check out my question.

Bigger tiles are less labor intensive, easier to clean grout as there is less and more with today's styles. Purchasing it is not as expensive it's the labor. If you can measure the square footage then you have the area measured to call for estimates and can price/purchase tile based on that as well. I know that my bathroom floors seemed to be about $300 for labor or less. It took him a 1/2 day to lay it and then return the next day or two later to grout it.

I think the best place is Home Depot this is the primary choice. My secondary choice would be Lowe's. I know both of these stores are very helpful in finding colors just bring a sample of what you are looking for and they should be able to match it or get you a great choice.
