i don't know where to take him first. new york has many places to go and have fun. he says it's my choice. should i just keep it simple- dinner and a movie? this is my first date in three years. i need help

Why don't you let him chose?
Just tell him that it's up to him and you'd like to try something different rather than the same old, same old.

I'm English, i've never been to New York. Try to be relaxed on a first date and just go with the flow, get something to eat and then take him for a walk.

Yeh a dinner and a movie sounds fine for a first date.
I would suggest doing anything that makes you feel comfortable and gives you both a good chance of relaxing and where you can be your self.

why do people do a movie on a date??? --- the idea is to get to know them --- talk to them ---- take a ferry ride ---- or a bus trip around the city --- enjoy each others company --- walk over some of the bridges you have there ---- best wishes
