I really want to lose a few pounds but am having problems, because my parents won't let me diet, because last time I did it, my sister became anorexic. I'm 5'2 and 125, but want to be like 110-105ish. any suggestions??

I wanted to do weight watchers again, but my parents wont let me, and if they see me eating smaller portions, they freak out, because the same week that my sister confessed, i had stopped eating breakfast and lunch. I'm trying to get a gym membership, but they won't let me do that either. My best friends sweet 16 is on my birthday, and i want to look skinny

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I'm a Certified Personal Trainer and heavy dieting isn't necessary to lose weight however portion control is key. That is: you can eat almost anything as long as you do it in the proper portions. Also, exercise is key. Weight training 3 times a week (don't wing it see someone that knows what they're doing to set you up a good program) and aerobic activity 4-6 days a week for 30-45 minutes. Good luck.

Just change your eating habits, avoid anything greasy, fried and potatoe chips, you have to program your mind to eat healthy and also keep active. When your doing homework jump up (literally) every few minutes and do something active like cleaning house, martial arts, go for a walk etc.

Since summer is coming up, go swimming. Swimming uses all your muscles so it burns more calories than other exercises normally would and just cut down your portions of food (hard at first, but easy afterwards because your stomach shrinks). And don't eat past 6:00pm.

Another good method is to eat six small meals a day. Like eat an apple for breakfast and eat again two hours later something else small and try and avoid potatoes, they're a vegtable but there are foods a lot healthier than potatoes.

Portion control is key. Eating breakfast and eating small portions 5 times a day works great and keeps you from over eating.

The main key though is adding to your exercise. If your not doing any exercises now then you'll loose if you just ad 45 minutes of exercise 3-5 times a week.

Heck if you have a playstation or Xbox pick up Dance Dance revolution, I lost 25 pounds just doing that over 4 months.

Good luck!

I'm in the same posistion as you, except I haven't told my parents I am trying to lose weight and my sister didn't become anorexic. And I'm 5'8".
But I do weigh 125 pounds and want to lose some. I am just trying to cut down on the sugar foods, drinking no pop because it's so fattening (except diet Coke), and am eating small breakfasts and small lunches. I also do sit ups every day. I'm way too busy studying for my finals to full on exercise so I'm waiting for summer to do that.
Good luck to you, and to me. :)
