I breastfed my first daughter for a year, she gets maybe 1 or 2 colds a year but she also goes to school so she gets them from other kids. I'm 24 was not breastfed. My daughter has never had an ear infection. I chose breastfeeding because it's easiest, safest, and i want to give my children the best possible start in life. plus it's great for bonding. I also plan to breastfeed my next child. Oh and the answer up there about pacifiers, my daughter had one until she was 3 and never had an ear infection.

I'm 31, was not breastfed because I was given up for adoption. We currently have 2 kids and are trying for #3 and I breastfed both but not for as long as I had hoped.

I breastfed #1 for 4.5 months and had to quit nursing because of medication I had to be on for quite a while. I breastfed #2 for 7.5 months until he insisted on drawing blood just about every time he nursed. Of the two, our second has been much healthier. Our first has been prone to more ear infections and being affected by smaller "bugs" than our second. Our eldest has had at least 3 a year for the last couple of years and I think he had 2 his first year of life.

I decided to breastfeed because there are so many benefits for the baby as well as quite a few for myself including ease of feeding - I hated carrying bottles around. We actually did some formula with our first from the beginning because they wanted me to supplement in the hospital due to his blood sugar being a bit low and he wouldn't give it up. Human milk is made for human babies and nothing can exactly match it no matter how much research they do.

I honestly thing there isn't enough emphasis or support for breastfeeding or breastfeeding mothers but I could go on for hours.

Feel free to email me if you'd like any further information/opinions and good luck on your paper!

~ 40
~ yes
~ 1
~ yes for about 16 months
~ I believe mother's milk is the healthiest food for a baby (of course, if a mother does not drink, smoke and doing legal or illegal drugs ~ I did not)
~ I began breastfeeding from the middle of February until the end of June a year later, so I covered all the seasons.
~ My daughter is 20 she was not sick more than 10 times in her life: she had pneumonia before the age of 5, and then only a flu. No broken bones.
~ Never ear infection.

Good luck with your research.

I'm 21 years old I wasn't able to be breastfeed because I was adopted, but I have a 2 year old daughter and I didn't breastfeed her either. I chose not to because she had gastial reflux and lactose intolerant. She didn't get sick very often and had maybe 2 ear infections during her first year.

I am 57 years old. My mother breastfed me and I breastfed all three of my children, the first i breastfed until 6 months, the second until 1 year and the third until 7 months. My second child was premature and so i breastfed her for longer.
My children never had an ear infection until long after they were done breastfeeding.
I had one child with multiple problems with ear infections-when the doctor removed her tonsils we had no more ear infections

I breastfed because I beleive it is the perfect food for a newborn child. NO food we make up can replace the immunities they receive from the breast milk.
