If you are really creative I would recommend looking up a ton of pictures online, as well as researching how kimono are made. You have to be aware of the tradition of kimono when wearing one. Make sure it is suitable for you otherwise you run the risk of possibly offending. Much of the decoration on kimono are embriodery, and even watercolor on silk. The Japanese have a lot of symbolism tied in with kimono, but the info about it is easily found online. If you just want something kimono style, I'd say get a pattern and some material you fall in love with, and sew it up! I added a link that might help you out. Good Luck!

Sure! Go to a fabric store or go online and buy a pattern. Kimono patterns are actually quite common, and are reasonably easy to make. You'll just need a sewing machine, thread, some appropriate fabric, the pattern, and some patience.

if you have a large dressing gown use that as a pattern but add long rectanguler pieces to the ends of the sleeves, make a deep sash to wrap around middle, to be honest i would try charity shops and look for bright flowery silky style dressing gowns and add extra fabrics to suit if you were nearer to where i live i would help!!
