I have been trying to grow my hair for months now, and my friend says that in order to grow it long, I should try all different products. Is there really anything that's better? or should I just have patience? How long does it take to get your hair to grow?

The only secret to growing long hair is to keep your scalp clean and not cut it. I've grown my hair out several times and I just don't cut it, I don't even get it trimmed. I know they tell you to, but hair grows from the root, and the only thing a trim does is get rid of some split ends. But I didn't care about that, when my hair got to the length I wanted it I would get it trimmed up then. It's a pain to grow your hair out, but worth it.

Have patience, hair grows about 1/2 inch per month.

I have the same problem, slow growing or doesn't seem to grow hair. I'm going to get extensions later this week. Some say to get your hair trimmed, but only a little, every 8 weeks but I'm sorry to say this hasn't worked for me either. Extensions are expensive but you can get some really good ones from a place like Sally's. Ask someone there to help you with them. The are supposed to be knowledgeable to help.

have patience and yr hair will just grow, usually within 6 months . Trick tho is to keep it clean and healthy by eating right , sleeping early and washing regularly then moisturing it with a good conditioner.
I find Pantene shampoos and conditioneers as good as any, its cheap and easily available.

p/s.. I have long hair and I if I may say so, it looks so good :)

The real key is to keep hair healthy. Wash and condition regularly, keep it moisturized, avoid lots of pulling and brushing, don't keep it pulled tightly in a bun or braid all of the time. Most importantly, don't put heat in it. Avoid using curling irons, flat irons and blow drying as much as possible. Heat only dries hair out and weakens it. Basically , treat like your mom did when you were 5 years old.

I did this to my breaking, dry hair about a year ago and now I have much more hair than I can handle. It's well down my back!
