I used to teach nutrition for a nursing program. To lower your cholesterol whole grains are a great choice because fiber helps to carry out excess LDL (bad cholesterol). Fresh fruits and vegetables are another good choice. Foods that contain Omega-3-fatty acids such as salmon and fortified eggs are very heart healthy and may help lower cholesterol. Over the counter supplements which help lower LDL and raise HDL (good cholesterol) are fish oil capsules, red yeast rice capsules and niacin (may also be a prescription). Increase your exercise, and if you smoke stop. This is the info I give patients ( I am in a nurse practitioner program). I hope it helps.

High fiber foods (likes oats, bran, whole grains), have a modest impact in lowering cholesterol by binding bile acids (made from cholesterol) in your intestinal tract. This is always a good option to incorporate into your diet, for more reasons than just cholesterol. The most effective natural remedy is niacin (a B vitamin), but it is not without side effects. Niacin can cause people to have facial flushing (you get very red and feel warm), some people experience this more than others and you may be able to decrease this by taking it with food and an NSAID (aspirin or ibuprofen). The best niacin products are available by prescription only, I suggest talking to your doctor about this. It is also safe to take niacin with ezetimibe (but your doctor should know). There are other natural products that claim to lower cholesterol like garlic, but most of these methods have very little evidence to support their use and have their own set of side effects as well. I am in my sixth and final year of pharmacy school, I hope that you find this information useful. PS ezitemibe has a lower incidence of muscle pain than the statins, you should give it a shot. Good luck.

Eat only when hungry and that too not more than three times a day. Take no solids/liquids other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked fruits and vegetables in ur diet. Eat uncooked food first. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate ur autosystem and u will know precisely when u r hungry and when u r full.
Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve what u have aspired for all these days within a short period and that too w/o hassles.

Fat. The lack thereof. Less intake of saturated fats will help lower your cholestrol. Total abstinence from saturated fats with the exception of one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, or some fish oil capsules daily will help even more. Fibrous foods will slow the absorption of fatty foods, so as to eliminate them before they are all turned into cholestrol. A diet high in fatty fish is known to help.

grapefruit juice early in the morning (before easting anything) helps that a lot, dill and yogurt, garlic (you can use garlic pills instead of eating it because I know some may not like the smell) and all the sour stuffs.
But with all those, be very careful with your blood pressure.
