I am an anesthesiologist and work with surgeons every day. They enjoy their jobs well enough, but are usually pretty darn stressed out. While med school can be fun, a surgical residency does not include "parties and all the full young stuff"! being on call every 3rd night (meaning working all day monday, monday night, and tuesday, then a reg day wednesday, then start over again on thursday), leaves time for little social life, since on your time off you need to be studying like crazy - surgical attendings are tough teachers.
and as far as getting "paid" during residency, your hourly wage comes out to about $6-8 an hour. the upside is, you save every penny bc you have no time to spend it on such things as fun or food.
if you want to save lives, think of a different medical specialty - my life as an anesthesiologist offers me a ridiculous amount of flexibility, and i still make a decent amount of money, working 2-3 days a week without call or weekends.
good luck!

What?!! Medical school and residency are no picnic, and there is NO "partying"; they don't have time.
It is school, by the way.
Why would someone study any subject they don't like? By your definition, everyone in college or graduate school would study subjects they hate. Sorry, but that defies logic.
Interns and residents get paid a pittance compared to the responsibility they are saddled with. If the amount they are paid is worked out by the number of hours they work, teach, perform research, and study, it would be less than minimum wage. Everyone needs money to survive, even interns and residents.
I would not want to be a surgeon, as I am basically lazy and value my time too much. Get an MBA, instead.

(Hiya, Hoya! Another anesthesiologist.... yay!)
I would not like to be a surgeon. I'm smart enough to know a great job when I see it, and that's why I chose anesthesiology!
Your view of surgical residency is hilarious... yeah, it's one big blood-soaked party. I see the surgical residents laughing uproariously every time an attending reams them a new one in the OR. They love never seeing their families, and working like a dog for 5 years or more for just enough pay to make their student loan payments.
I'll bet you watch "Scrubs" and think it's real, don't you?

I'm on my way of becoming a surgeon... And medical school is not the equivalent of partying all the time... I have very good memories of it. But like 99% of your time is supposed to be spent wisely... Another 5 years to go...

No, she would not. The wellbeing middle might assign somebody at random. often, they are unlikely to confess you, till you have have been given a severe, non-maintenance project happening. in case you elect surgical operation, it must be scheduled - going interior the direction of the ER, hoping to get admitted in all probability shouldn't artwork. call your coverage corporation, and enable them to discover somebody who takes your coverage, close to you.
