depends on why you collect them. if they take up all your time and effort and away from your worship of God than maybe you have a problem.
there is also the command in the bible to not make graven images. why than do people wear a cross around their neck? why do they put a fish on the back of their car?
just like the Israelites had the golden calf, many today have also slipped into false worship.

Well, lets see if we can put this "Idol" topic into perspective. The word "Idol" traditionally has a connotation of an object that is made by man & worshiped as God. In the 10 Commandments, God doesn't want ANY IDOLS put before Him (worshiped). So yes, ANYTHING that takes Gods' place in Ur life is an "Idol"!!! BOYFRIENDS???, GIRLFRIENDS???, cars, education, workplace, T.V. , Computing etc... Got the Pix.??? Scripture says there is a time & place for everything, but GOD is FIRST!!! John

It depends on how you feel about your collection. If you're a nut about it and nothing is more important to you, then yeah, I would consider it an idol. Kind of like money. That must be the #1 idol in the world, because so many people worship the "almighty" dollar. Generally, I would say that having a collection of something isn't idol worship, nor is enjoying people in costumes.

It is not so much the 'collecting false idols' as the worshiping or them. If I decide that Mickey Mouse is God and start praying to him, there is where the problem starts. While actual addiction is a whole other ballgame, loving to watch television shows is not really a problem either.
The idea is basically to love God with your whole life. If you are putting other things in that place of authority and power, you are contradicting the Bible and the commitment that you made to follow God.

Collect Hummels? I can barely afford my beater mini pickup and there is no way I worship it more like hope that I can afford another when it finally dies.
Anything a person places before God is Idolatry. For instance so called atheists (they are a myth) place their reasoning above God.
Christians tend to put their human traditions above God.
I really don't know any christians with hummers though.

Here is my opinion, I would have to say yes. People who were enlightened like Jesus and Buddha did not want to be worship such as statues ( i guess it was kinda of false) they just wanted to be remembered. And the fact there is American idol, celebrities, and etc. People tend to exaggerate and worship as if they were Demi-gods.

Only if you are worshiping them. Collecting doesn't equate with worship...neither does viewership. Addiction? Perhaps....but it would have to be quite an addiction and based on more than addiction pure and simple.
You rarely see anyone bowing down and praying at the altar of Goofy, however. I can't remember the last time I have seen that, as a matter of fact.

If you place anything before God, yes, those would be considered worshipping false idols...including those you mentioned. If you place God first, then no, it would not be.

If you place them before God, yes. It's a heart issue that only God can judge. Again. Wait 5 minutes and another question will be posted where I can just copy this answer. GOD LOOKS AT THE HEART!

I'm not a Christian but that is a ridiculous idea. I know some fanatical religions like the JWs have this belief but most do not.
