Instinctual and taught.

Morals are taught. The human race has no instinctual behavior, except the inclination toward war perhaps.

When traveling through the world, one encounters many different versions of what is moral from one culture to another, and these are all taught values.

Instinctual and taught. Maybe divinely bestowed before we come here for this life. As a believer in reincarnation, I can see that could be true as well.

When a young child hits another child because they want the toy, the parents say "Don't do that, that's not nice, hitting is bad."

That's teaching morals.

If morals were "divinely bestowed" then the young child would know not to hit in the first place.

They are taught.

Young children will just take or say whatever they want. They need to be taught about stealing, lying, hurting others, etc.

Good morals are taught, bad morals are what we are born with. Few parents teach their kids to hit, yet all kids have hit at least at one point and have needed to be taught that it is wrong. Did you teach your kids (if you have any) to have temper tantrums? No, I didn't think so. You do have to teach them to control their temper.

Instinctual - the result of the instincts to continue the species and self-survival. Emotions, love, lust - all evolved to get us to have sex and not destroy ourselves.

we learn our morals from our parents. No tablets of stone. No eternal truths. And we can know this because different societies and different time have different morals.
