God is eternal but nothing else is? Well I want to know where he came from. I don't understand the concept of something always existing. And I don't see how someone who believes that can think that evolution is far fetched. In fact I don't see how someone who believes that can think anything is far fetched.

Those who ascribe to the belief of an eternal God also believe that their own life is eternal. An "after-life" might be our spirits entering into another realm or dimension, where time doesn't exist.

This type of faith requires an acknowledgement that there are some things human-kind does not understand, whether those things are yet to be understood, or will never be understood. Those who refuse to make this acknowledgment are pretty much stating that their self-conceived notion of an "evolution" is within their understanding. Yet it is still a theory. Perhaps I'm being unreasonable, but if one knows all the answers, and claims to completely understand a theory, then it isn't a theory at all.

What it boils down to is this. Evolution takes just as much faith as any religion out there. It has not been proven, and therefore requires faith from those who ascribe to it. So the question you asked isn't nearly as important as: "Which faith should I ascribe to, Christianity, Buddhism, Evolution, etc?" Or, for those atheists out there, "Should I believe in anything at all?"

1. God is an eternal, perfect being. If we could completely understand Him, I don't think I could have made that statement. He is a being beyond understanding because we are limited - not only in the length of our lives, but also by how much our brain can comprehend. God allows us to know Him to a certain extent, but we could never fully comprehend an eternal God.

2. Evolution, to me, is not "far fetched." Its a theory with some strong evidence behind it. However, I believe its wrong, not only because I believe the scripture speaks against it, but because I believe the evidence supports creationism above evolution.

Thanks for the question!

Do you believe that this infinite Universe has no end?
Time has no end and no beginning yet it moves relentlessly forward. Only the almightly God had no beginning even Jesus had a beginning in some distant past trillions of years ago.
(Colossians 1:15-17) . . .5 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist,

Then the bible says "Let us make man"
Showing that these spirit persons he made a long time ago long before the earth was ever thought of was involved in the making of this earth.
Job 38:7 Tells how these spirit sons shouted in applause when the earth was made. Job 1: Tells how Satan this rebellious son moved back and forth between heaven and earth. Revelation 12:7 shows how they had a war in heaven and Satan was cast out and down to this earth.
He was meant to live forever but by sin he threw that away.
When God made Adam he was meant to live forever but he threw that away. By their sinning it would not be a kindness on God's part to let them continue living. Because they are making life miserable for the ones who want to be good.
The bible pointed to a time when the earth would be filled with righteous humans doing God's will.
God's purpose will be realized it is just that some will not live to see it because of wickedness.

Of course it doesn't make sense to you.....You are still a child of the world. ". . .The god of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ . . ." (2 Corinthians 4:4, NRSV).
Through hundreds of corrupt religions he has convinced billions of people to worship the sun, moon and stars, animals, nature, deceased ancestors, imaginary gods and goddesses and a bewildering variety of other things—or nothing at all. Even among the many varieties of traditional Christianity we find people divided and bickering over who and what God is, His purpose for us, what He wants us to do and how we should live. The devil has done an effective job of confusing people as to what the Bible really says.

Satan doesn't care which of these groups people fall into. Whether they believe in no God at all, accept and worship a false god or are deceived into a false view of the true God and His plan for us, Satan still has them where he wants them—"alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart" (Ephesians 4:18).

Perhaps this helps us better understand what God means when He tells us that the devil "deceives the whole world" (Revelation 12:9). Paul explains that "the god of this age" has blinded those "who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them" (2 Corinthians 4:4).

In one of His parables Jesus explains that, as soon as some people hear God's truth, "the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved" (Luke 8:12). Satan will stop at nothing to keep people blinded to the fullness of God's truth. The result, as Jesus explained, is that "the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it," and "the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:13-14, NRSV).... Magic sky pixie creating people from dirt and cloning after speaking the universe into existence from nothing with his super magic speak makes way more sense than the idea that we came from monkeys. Pixie man loving you so much he had his own son/self slaughtered in the middle east to save you from, well, himself and his murderous cruel ways is just so much easier to believe. And the concept of being able to fit two or more of every animal on earth onto one wooden boat is far more logical than not believing in God just because you don't have proof.

Okay?

Just because something doesn't make logical sense doesn't mean it cannot be true. For instance, we already know that the totality of truths in mathematics cannot be logically derived from any finite set of axioms. Similarly, it is reasonable to believe that the totality of non-mathematical truths will never fit neatly into any purely logical structure of thought.

SOMETHING is eternal; on that you must agree. Unless you believe all matter generated from nothing at all, spontaneously. So if you don't believe in God, or don't believe that God can be eternal, then you believe that something arises spontaneously from nothing. And I can't imagine anything more farfetched than that.

You are thinking in 'human terms' ... God is 'outside of Time and Space' and 'we think' that he is 'eternal' ... but that 'eternal' is a HUMAN term for something we can't ever 'explain totally' ... and, yes, I am a 'Christian' but I also 'believe in evolution' and actually think that the 'theory of evolution' should be used as a 'proof' that God can 'exist' ...

God exists outside of time and space.
Time and space only exist inside our universe which God created. He is beyond that in some other dimention the we don't understand. He does not experience time and therefore experiences all time at once.

I am Christian and think that many things are eternal (energy, souls, etc.) I also think that there are some things that the human brain just can't comprehend. And who says that evolution and creation can't both be true?
