Whether your islam, christian, jew or whatever religion that believes in God. I believe in God.

I was talking to a girl who don't believe in heaven. She made me think. She said that people want to believe in heaven so that they don't have to be scared of dying but there is no heaven.

What's your view on that?

I believe in God, but I question the existence of an afterlife.

I tend to agree with her, people like to think there is something better "out there" and that they will get there. I see no justification for such a belief, though at the same time, I can't rule that out.

I think she could be right. People are comforted by thinking that when loved ones die, they go to a 'better place'. They are also comforted in imagining the same fate for themselves.

The idea of Hell is incomprehensible to me. No God would create or utilize such a place. To do so would be unquestionably UN God like.

I do believe in Heaven (and that all people eventually wind up there) but I admit to occasionally wondering if it is indeed that comfort factor that won't allow me to let go of the idea.

The fact is that no one knows. No one could possibly know. Reading something in a book - no matter how old or venerated the book is - does not provide proof.

I certainly don't believe in the pearly gates and angels floating around on clouds and such, but...
I think the concept of "Heaven" is our way (mans) attempt to understand the great unknown. Yes, I believe to some Heaven is a comfort to them, and see nothing wrong with that. I believe in a life everlasting but in what shape or form that might be, I don't know...will my soul become some sort of energy source...guess I'll know once I've left this earth... All I know or care about is that I will be in God's presence and wrapped in his love.

The Kingdom of God

In the height of heaven (Job 22:12), in the third heaven (2 Cor.12:2), God inhabits eternity (Isa.57:15) and dwells in Zion (Joel 3:21, Ps.23:6), the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb.12:22).

Saints of the most High will possess God’s kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever (Dan.7:18, Dan.7:22).

im a christian, but im not just a christian because i want to go to heaven--well that part of it but its also because i love having God as my friend and its awesome to have someone always there. but yeah the first line in the Bible is 'in the beggining God created the HEAVENS and the earth'. there is a heaven. i dont know if your a christian/catholic or WHATEVER but you should find out why she thinks theres no heaven, maybe she has a bigger reason then 'her religion' lol

Heaven is a reward for living a Godly life and accepting Jesus Christ.

To believe in heaven does not mean you are scared of dying, it simply means we believe the bible and the promises in it.

This girl is falling in a trap like a lot of other people fall into. They begin to think they have it figured out because of their wisdom. Faith in God is not believing in what you see but believing in what you don't see.

I am a born again Christian. I believe the Bible and I believe God is preparing a home for me in heaven. The Bible does not lie although it is often misunderstood by people who add their own theology to it.
