Paul was supposedly born and raised in the city of Tarsus, a region in SE Asia-Minor (now called Turkey) where Mithras was well known. Biblical scholars are now saying that Paul, the alleged author of 13 out of the 27 (maybe more) books of the New Testament, may have been influenced in his writings by this strong religion of Mithraism. We can see a profound kinship between Mithraism and Christianity.

To quote Danielle - "I firmly believe Paul took the teachings of an Essene rabbi called Jesus and rearranged them to fit the Mithras mythology. There were many wannabe messiahs around the time of Jesus; the man who could establish a religion based on a "real" messiah would be a very powerful and respected man, which Paul apparently wanted to be.

The fact that Paul never met Jesus, and that Jesus never foretold Paul's appearance (unless it was included in his warning about deceivers that would fool "the very elect"), should be proof that Paul had no authority in real Christianity. "

Proof. Just like people tell me when I type stuff. Show me proof. All you have is speculations. No history book I have ever seen says these things.

The scriptures point to a messiah from the beginning and to the fact that even the Gentiles would come to worship the messiah. The only Jew I see meeting these credentials is Jesus Christ. Everything you have said would not lurr a Gentile under your belief. If you are into researching history then begin by researching the historical facts of the bible and tell me why they only confirm that the history in scriptures are true. This includes the life of Jesus Christ and that of Paul.
If God didn't want these lives to be known then he would have blotted out their names from history. Just like you and I will never be known in two or three generations. Can you name all the Roman Cesars that lived in Paul's lifetime?
Even the most ignorant person toward history can tell you who the apostle Paul is or will say they heard something about him. By the way who was the High Priest after the First century ended?
Paul is meant to be in your mind because the God he served is the real and true God who gave to him the words he wrote down and they will burn in the hearts of men forever just as Paul wrote.

Wow, enough with the Paul bashing already. Read the bible not some propaganda making Paul seem like a rebel. Paul did meet Jesus, He also spent 3 years in Arabia seeking Gods face before He even presented Himself to the apostles in Jerusalem, and even then He needed Barnabas to vouch for Him for all the trouble he had caused earlier. Does that sound glossed over to you? Real people real reluctance. Scipture speaks plainly about it. Oh, and Paul also recieved revelation in heaven by being taken there. Actually taken there. Paul didn't add to or take away anything that Jesus said while He was on earth. He just walked the Way and helped others realize things like grace, and faith, and all the other treasures that you don't understand yet.

paul did all that to become a powerful and respected man, paul was driven away like a dog and beaten too because of his preaching, the only way to become powerful in that time was to hold a political position allowed by the romans, or be a jewish priest
