Kind of both for me ..... I was looking for some jobs in Graphic Design and i went for a job in an Architect's office, i liked the place, they offered me the job so i took it ....

not exactly what i was aiming for and i'm also studying whilst working to become a qualified Architectural Technician, I've been with the same company for 3 years now and i thoroughly enjoy my job, so glad i decided to go for it even though it wasnt something i'd thought about!!

are you asking because your looking for a job??

I never thought I would be doing what I am doing. It was a long tangled series of events. Quit my job in one city to move to another for a boy (crazy I know). Worked a bad job at Home Depot when I got here and hated every second of it. Sent resumes everywhere! Finally got a hit from a company I did not know and I got a job in reception there. I have now worked my way into the insurance department and I love my job. (I also married the boy I moved for, so it has been a great gamble!)

I accidentally ended up in the technical world of building TV stations and Stadiums. After college, I took an A/V job, just to get money. 19 Years later, I build stuff. Not what I expected.

It actually just kind of fell into my lap.

I had done construction management for over 20-years and was supposed to transfer to Kansas City and my ex-wife did not want to leave Iowa. So I applied for a job selling cars at a local Ford dealer.

Two months later I was offered the position of sales in their Special Finance department and accepted it. I trained my self on the computer programs in the first month and then my manager approached me with a offer. If I would put his entry fee for a golf tournament on my credit card, he would not come back to work if he placed and if he did not, he would owe me big time. Well it was only $250.00 so I agreed.

What neither one of us knew was that the General Manager had overheard the conversation and my manager was going to be fired when he came back anyway.

To make a long story short, he came back, was fired and the owner told me I had taken a huge chance and that by doing so had shown him that I was the man for the job. He paid me my $250.00 back and I have been a Special Finance Manager for over 7-years now and I love it.

Something I ended up doing. It has nothing to do with my degree and is tedious to say the least but it pays the bills. I still live in hope of one day getting a job that I actually enjoy.

Cheers guys. I've got a job I hate and two thumbs down now.

I saw an old guy walking past my house one day! He was totaly P*****d fast asleep and holding onto the tail of his mule that was taking him home! I decided there and then that anything that gentle, reliable, big, strong and affectionate to humans was worth spending the rest of my life being with!

Tomorrow I fly to Brazil to lecture in a University, and at a couple of Rodeos, and teach and work with the poor hill and low lands farmers to help them improve the lives of their Mules and Donkeys. This enables these men to increase productivity and this way we address hunger and poverty in all 3rd world countries that we visit!

I hope this helps you and will be the 'Best Answer' for you! I need the points!!

At the time, I chose the job (only because I needed it more than it needed me!) I'm now looking to choose another.

It's definitely not where I saw myself as being when I got out of high school. I take a lot of stress from customers, but I know as long as I'm following the rules, my boss will back me up- and his opinion is the only one matters when it comes time to pick up my paycheck. So overall, it suits me because I don't really have any trouble dealing with that kind of stress.

Just ended up doing it - if you have the opportunity to do something you really enjoy then grab it with both hands! If not, make it happen for you.

I would really love to be a florist but can't afford to train for it now.

I just sort of fell into my job too. Wish I had been a bit more focused as a teenager, I got 5 highers but didn't go to uni so what good did they do me?

Benefit of hindsight and all that....
