My opinion would be to be honnest with them, and exsplain that your not looking for a relationship and so on!, Dont go into a relationship if you dont like that person as it can mess things up. Its best to be straight with them and explain that you don't like them not in a horrible way. You could be like "I know you like mee, and i like you to but i think its best if we stay how we are rather then go into a relationship with each other".. thats how i would say it, being horrible will only just cause upset and anger between each other, so its best to be nice that way everyone is happy. Well apart from the person you let down,,

well, personally i feel that it's never a good idea to say I love you like a brother, or I don't want to loose your friendship because they just know they are getting turned down but just say that I'm at an important time in my life were i need to find myself & i have to go threw this journey a lone. If we are ment to be together we'll get together latter on in life.

u should tell them the truth unless u know that it will really crush them...then u could always be like im not looking for a relationship or be like can u give me some time to think about it

You should def. tell the person that you don't like them in that way or you will be leading the person on and it will hurt them in the long run. Your best option it to tell the person the truth and hope for the best!! :)

dont reject at first, especially if you dont know him very well. if the date turns out bad, then the next time he asks, dont make some excuse, be straight-forward, but dont be rude. but anyway, if it turns out bad, he'd never ask again. but if it turns out really ok and fun, at least you didnt regret not trying it out with him.

Just turn them down tactfully, but don't lie or make up fake reasons. Try to be as polite as possible.

Definately don't leave him hanging. If you don't know him all that well, tell him you are interested in someone already. Or tell him you are not interested in dating any one right now.

Say I can't make it, I have other plans. Then stay home that night. Next time, say no thank you. And say it as often as you have to.
