They should not. Christianity requires repentance, which is to turn away from sin. This means that you give up the sinful lifestyle of the past and learn to walk in the path of righteousness.
Will Christians still make mistakes? Sure, we all do. We are human too. But there is a willing choice, a decision to continually seek God's will and to act upon it.

I think your missing the point a little. Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of sins. It is implied that everyone sins, including Christians. If Christians did not sin, then they wouldn't need Christ!
The word "Christian" came from Antioch soon after Christ was crucified. It literally translates to mean "little Christ" or "follower of Christ". Anyone that is a follower of Christ does not blatantly live their lives in sin. If they did, they would be contradicting the label they gave themselves.
However, when Christians do sin, they rely on the atonement that Christ died for. It can be likened to running a race, falling down, butting having the ability to get back up and keep going.

NO- Jesus did die for the forgiveness of sins- but also when I accepted Christ as my Savior- I am being transformed. I am a New Creature in Christ. I now have the ability not to sin- however I will fall- and for that I repent and God forgives. If we continue to sin, then the grace of God is cheap- and it is far from it- it cost Jesus His Life. We have victory over sin, because of his death and resurrection. This does not mean that we are perfect by any means, but obedience is important.

Jesus Christ through the Atonement experienced the depth of human misery allowing him to be the perfect judge. Through faith in Him we can become free from the effects of sin (e.g., guilt, anger) by turning all judgment over to Him and changing our behavior to be in harmony with His teachings. This process (repentance) is designed to teach us the principles of happiness and to allow us to reach our potential, not only in this life, but the life to come.
Christ didn't provide a free pass for sin, but He did provide the only way to true happiness.
This makes a great deal more sense when you have a better understanding of God's plan. Take a look at some of the videos at http://www.mormon.org

Here are some of my thoughts on the subject:
1) Not everyone who claims to be a Christian is a true believer. The USA is full of those who claim to be believers, but are not following God.
2) True Christians who are born of the Spirit and have a new nature, loathe their sins and are very disturbed and sad about their failings.
3) There is a serious lack of Biblical Preaching in American pulpits. People can attend church for years and not even hear the truth about what God requires. There if virtually no one preaching about the 10 commmandments or the Judgment Seat of Christ.
4) There are too few who are committed to reading and following their Bibles daily. Without daily Bible reading, it is very easy to be deceived into compromise.
I'm very glad you asked this question, becuase it shows that you are concerned about righteousness. Jesus said, "Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied".

Good question. First, let us define what "sin" is. It is an old English word in archery that means "missed the mark". If you did not hit the bullseye, you were called a "sinner". Now there are many sins (little s and plural) but there is only one Sin (capitol S and singular). Sin is a positional state that separates you from God. When Christ died, He saved us from Sin. That is, the positional state of being "in Sin" has been eliminated. Now do we continue to commit sins? Yes. It is hard to walk in this world and not get your feet dirty. But now we are no longer in bondage to continue in it, we have been set free. To continue to willfully sin is to just prove that we have not truly repented in the first place.
Romans 6:1-3
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior have basically "died" to their old lives, and have been raised up in a new life (ie born again). So you see, even back in Paul's day they were asking this very question.

We do not sin freely. The wages of sin is death. We screw up like anyone else and need to be forgiven through Jesus.

I think a lot of them do. its an excuse to sin freely. God knows that we are going to sin. we are human and we are sinful. But this does not give us the right to go out and murder someone b/c we are forgiven. Its when we are trying and we mess up. God knows our hearts.

Until we reach that state of perfection in Heaven we will always be inclined to be sinners, so the sacrifice of Christ was to enable us to be forgiven for our sins if we repoent of them and try to sin no more, however because God is so merciful and kind He has went even further than this by allowing us to avail of His forgiveness and mercy at all times.
But you are correct we must not take this for granted and sin as we please.

No Christian can or will sin freely as quickly as he/she see's the grotesqueness of sin. as quickly as you recognize that that's certainly your sin that positioned Jesus on that circulate, and you spot the punishment that He absorbed, your punishment, you won't be in a position to take sin gently. each and every sin is a cut loose from God. It hardens the guts. The christian that lives in open, unrepentant sin isn't a Christian. The mark of a real Christian is repentance of sins. The notice "Repentance" ability to teach away. you won't be in a position to turn faraway from sins and actively sin on the comparable time. that's illogical and impossible.
