This question answers itself when you consider the actions of those that proclaim born again evangelism.... Those of us that are Humanistic in our outlook actually love our fellow human beings.

A religious fanatic. Who knows what's going on in the head of someone who adheres to and does not question a set of rules appointed by some human being or group.
If you think that God says kill your son (old testament of the Bible)or blow up that building, a religious fanatic would do it. And don't tell me that "God would never say that" God doesn't say anything, people feel and think these things up and don't question their validity. We have already seen religious fanatics murder because they are "obeying God"
A humanist uses reason, not thinking up God's voice to make a decision.

Neither - the guy maximum likley to homicide somebody is an earthly fanatic. the guy least possibly to homicide somebody is a non secular humanist. in case you stop using labels for individuals and picture approximately what the words mean, then you definately might start to work out your prejudices.

A secularist, actually.
They do not believe in the soul, and so taking a life is not as great a crime.
To the humanist, LIFE IS CHEAP. Have you ever contemplated the billions of people that perished under secularist rulers like Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot?

errrhhh.... what a stupid question!
i love when people get the 'high and mighty' attitude by trying to part of some group.
if calling yourself a 'secular humanist' thinks that makes you more peaceful so be it. ... but grow up.

Which ever, most murders are committed by friends or relatives of the deceased.
Victim/Offender Relationships
Of the 14,054 homicides for which 2002 SHR data were submitted, the relationship of the victim to the offender was unknown for 42.8 percent of the victims. An analysis of the 57.2 percent of the victims for whom the relationships to their offenders were known revealed the following: 24.4 percent of victims were murdered by strangers, and 75.6 percent of the victims knew their assailants. Among the incidents in which the victims knew their killers, 12.7 percent of the victims were related to their murderer, and 30.5 percent of the victims were acquainted with their offenders. Husbands and boyfriends killed 32.1 percent of female victims, and wives and girlfriends murdered 2.7 percent of male victims. (Based on Table 2.12.)
