Mormons believe that the very gospel they say they believe in has been corrupted. How can you believe something that has been corrupted?
Their idea of repairing the situation is to have a "prophet" come in and fix the "errors". As long as Joe could cause his followers to doubt the Gospels, he could "restore" it and cause them to follow his purposes and doctrines.
By the way, if the gospels were lost, then how do the Mormons know which verses to quote from (which they do quote from often), and how do they know which verses to trust??
Note to all: The Gospels were not lost or corrupted. They are complete and trustworthy. I don't need a man to tell me that.

As an Evangelical Christian I was, for five years, area director of UK anti-cult organisation Reachout Trust. In that capacity I read several of Ed Decker's publications and was extremely annoyed to discover that he was often downright wrong. In arguing with cultists it is important to be entirely accurate, otherwise your entire argument falls apart. Trusting Ed Decker I was saying things to Mormons like "You believe God had sex with Mary!" and they'd just say "No we don't" and then I was up the creek on that argument.
I know Jesus Christ as my personal saviour, and I love him and walk close to him. I have expereinced the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I believe the Bible, study it daily and live by its precepts. But I am now also a Mormon. I was baptised at the end of that five years, having discovered that the LDS church truly is a restoration of Jesus Christ's church on the earth, and that much of what is said about it in anti-Mormon circles, by the likes of Ed Decker, is untrue.
So yes, if you are a Christian you can be Mormon, because I am.

I wouldn't base your understanding on the Mormon (LDS) church from people who are bashing them. If you really want to know what someone believes then go directly to the source. Believe me i had a Catholic friend in High School and i learned a lot about her religion. Funny thing is a lot of the things posted on here about them are not always true. I would have not had known this if i had not talked to her about her church. You can really learn the truth about other people if you only go ask the person who really knows because they live it.
As for being Christians everyone who believes and leads their life as Jesus asked us too...is a Christian. That includes both Mormons, Cathloics and many other relgious denmonations.

If you havre read these books the answers are there, they are no way christian. Just because they have Jesyus Christ in their names, they are no more christian than Mickey Mouse. They follow a trumped up version of Jesus, their own version and they have no respect for the teachings of the bible, only the teachings of Joseph Smith and others. For example, they do not believe in the atoning blood of Jesus, they even say that some sinners need to have their blood spilt to atone for their sins. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Mormons don't and they tell me they do, yet it is written by their prophets that they do not. This is one very small example

Ed Decker is THE biggest liar. Even other anti-Mormons won't touch his stuff. Of course, others do. That's where all that stuff about "God had sex with Mary" and "Eternal celestial sex and spirit BABIES" comes from. His movie, "The Godmakers" has a cartoon of women dressed as greek goddesses in a room with numerous little "spirit babies" and them changing nappies, probably full of spirit poop (I wonder if spirit poop has no smell?). A couple of groups of Judao/Christian watchdogs has labeled his stuff "religious pornography".
Oh, yeah, and Ed wants you to believe that, because of his publishing "the truth" of what Mormons believe, that his life is constantly in jeopardy. Which is bull cookies, since his stuff is just almost laughably wrong.
Bob Larsen is just about as bad. He is one who will believe people like Ed Decker, not because Eddie tells the truth, but because he says what they want to hear. Bob used to have a radio show (don't know if he still does or not), but he said that one of his dreams is to broadcast his show from the Celestial room of the Salt Lake temple. And he says it like it's within his reach. I don't know what he expects to happen if he ever gets in there. But, I would hope that anyone who is so much in league with Satan as he is would feel the weight of his sins as he got there.
The temple is the House of the Lord. It is where we go to learn more of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and His plan of salvation.
Again, take what those guys say with a pound or two of salt.

Mormons consider themselves Christians. They go by the bible (the old and new testaments), plus they have a third book, the book of Mormon.
