A dear friend of mine has a kidney disease, she is on dialysis and she just had to have surgery to remove her appendix the other day, for appendicitis. Did her malfuctioning kidney have anything to do with this?

the appendix has no known funtction, but gets easily infected and can cause serious health issues.
play it safe, get it out

Appendicitis is caused by infections in the body, so it is entirely possible, but not absolutely positive that the lack of function in the kidneys caused it directly. If she misses dialysis appointments, then it is more likely, but again, the appendix is a separate organ, with separate issues, so it would be very difficult to positively state either way. Sorry.

How this was explained to us in school. The Appendix gets infected from certain foods we eat. Also, using a wood toothpick can allow a small splinter to lodge and infect the appendix. Chewing food properly can help and using those plastic toothpicks instead of wood help. Also, chewing on a pencil, as I have seen people do, may not be good. I not think your friends kidney is really a cause of the infection.

Appendicitis is a very common illness. There is nothing to do to prevent it. It is an inflammation of the appendix (which has no good use anyway) and no one knows what causes it anyway. It is most common in younger people but can occur at any age. It almost always needs to b surgically removed. I hope your friend feels better soon.

The appendix is a worm like structure that is at the junction of your small bowel with your large bowel. Stuff gets caught in there sometimes and gets infected. I'm not sure if the kidney disease had anything to do with it or not. Maybe/maybe not. I am the only one in my family to have mine out. It just sometimes happens. It cannot be avoided.

The kidney disease probably did not have much to do with the appendicitis. A high fiber diet is helpful in preventing this condition.
Plenty of fruits and vegetables and whole grains; avoid refined sugar and flour products.

I don't think so. Appendicitis is cause by the obstruction of some of the communicating channels of the appendix by small food parts like strawberry seeds (the black dots you see on strawberries) and such things.

i had appendicitis when i was young, but my appendix didn't get removed. they gave me a choice, surgery or not eating. and for about 2 weeks i did not eat. but i drank a lot of water. and on some other occassions, they mix some stuff with my water. and now i still have my appendix.

well first of all i really dont know much about medical. but i do know that the appendix is really a spare/unused organ in our body. we dont know why we are born with them, because they really dont do a damn thing. and nothing can prevent appendicitis, its a very common thing in most teenagers to young adults.
