MMMMM...Cholula is good, I recently discovered another Texas brand made nearby me in Buda called "SONTAVA"
I have been around the world and had MANY hot sauces...this one is worth a try if you think you can stand it.

Being raised on both Creole and Tex-Mex foods, I actually keep three types of hot sauce in the pantry for different foods!

In no particular order, here are my favorites:

Trappey's Cayenne Pepper Sauce - This goes great in gumbo, etouffee, blackened fish or even on top of macaroni & cheese! This is a thicker sauce than Tabasco but with a better "round" taste to it. It's made in New Iberia, La., just near the Tabasco factory so they use the same type of peppers.

Cholula Hot Sauce - Made in Mexico, it is served in the finer Tex-Mex restaurants here in Texas. It goes great with burritos, tacos, carne asada, fajitas, enchiladas etc. A lot of stores carry it here for those who like a good spicy send-off for their Mexican food fix.

Evangeline Pepper Sauce - This hot sauce is only available in the states surrounding Louisiana. It is made in the heart of Acadiana, in a little town called Evangeline, La. (near Opelousas). It is a bright red color with the best blend of vinegar and spices I have ever had. Only a few stores carry it here in Houston but I stock up on it in vast quantities. I mostly use it for cooking but have been known to soak buffalo wings in this jewel of a sauce.

All that describing above got my mouth watering! Yum....

Louisiana Hot Sauce is my favorite. But there's a bottle of Frank's in the cupboard too which is pretty close. I'll never have Tabasco again if I can help it.

Texas Pete is my stand by. My friend makes his own hot sauce called Carl's Death Sauce. Carl's is definitely my favorite, but I run out from time to time and use Pete.

I'm answering this for my husband.. He loves Cheech's Mango hot sauce. It's very expensive and we can only find it at a hot sauce store about a half hour from us.

My colleague makes this very spicy sauce that's great on rice, fried fish/chicken, etc. Pardon me, but I am not familiar with the English names. There is this very mini size chili (green colour) that's extremely hot. She pounds them then she stir fry it with some onions, anchovies and "asam" (forgot the English name for it). It's so extremely spicy but oh so delicious.
