According to Doctrine and Covenants 132:61-62 if a man has the desire to take more than one wife and his first wife agrees he is justified in doing so it is not adultery. This is true no matter how many others he takes.
D&C 132:1-2, 61-62
Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many awives and bconcubines—
Behold, and lo, I am the Lord thy God, and will answer thee as touching this matter. unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many awives and bconcubines—
And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood—if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
And if he have ten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore is he justified.

This "law" has never been removed from that book, which is their central book of doctrine. They were given what they call the Manifesto. Here is what they say changes this changes the "law" of plural marriage .
OFFICIAL DECLARATION
Inasmuch as laws have been enacted by Congress forbidding plural marriages, which laws have been pronounced constitutional by the court of last resort, I hereby declare my intention to submit to those laws, and to use my influence with the members of the Church over which I preside to have them do likewise.

I don't know about you but a " thus saith the Lord" holds a lot more authority than a "Inasmuch as laws have been enacted by Congress".. The Mormon people are NOT living their own "gospel"... Jim

it's against mormon practice to have more than one wife in the mormon church. when joseph smith started the church he had a few wives then joseph smith got killed. brigham young took over and led the mormon people from illinois all the way to utah and he said this is the place. brigham young had more wives than joseph smith. but there is the reformed mormon church and some of the male followers have more than one wife. i was a mormon member twice and baptized twice. joseph smith said he saw god and jesus in person above his head. then the angel moroni told joseph where the golden plates were to the history of some ancient american tribe in america, not the native americans. the angel moroni translated the plates to joseph. they believe jesus was seen by the ancient americans in the clouds over america.

this is an issue of what version you follow. much like the Muslim shia and Shiite. its just two versions with slight differences in this case how many wives you can have. I personally think people should be happy with one person not 2 or 3. they call it "that one special someone" for a reason.

I don't get your question. But I will try anyways, in D+C it was revealed to joseph Smith to practice polygamy, then it was "revealed" to another prophet to discontinue practicing polygamy, now if anyone is LDS and practices they will be excommunicated.
