Hereditary, is anything hereditary? Lets see my Father had varicose veins had them treated, my Mother did not. Father died from Cancer 63, Mother still alive 76. They had four children, two boys, two girls, birth: boy, girl, boy, girl. I have Psoriasis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, they are all older and healthy? My Sister has varicose veins, that arrived during her first pregnancy, I have never been pregnant. I have the gene for my Fathers Cancer. If anything was hereditary then we should all have at least Psoriasis, if not Arthritis?
However you need to know, while we may ALL carry the same genes, we need to encounter the trigger. I encountered the trigger for Psoriasis, they did not, well not yet.

Varicose veins are different then spider veins.
Varicose veins are those huge veins that bulge from a person's leg. Spider veins are those small ones that are flat.
Varicose veins are linked with heredity. Other related factors are pregnancy, obesity, menopause, aging, prolonged standing, leg injury and abdominal straining.
A good way to prevent these veins is to avoid prolonged standing, avoid crossing your legs too much, and also wearing graduated compression stockings with a pressure of 30–40 mmHg. In any case ask your doctor.
For varicose veins there are surgical and non-surgical treatments which you could also discuss with your doctor.
Spider veins are easier to get rid of with laser treatment.
