Issues such as homosexuality and abortion (murder) are condemned in the Bible, but applauded by Hollywood and liberals. Do you keep your mouth shut when the controversy is high?

Romans 1:26-28
Deuteronomy 5:17

I'm not saying to be hateful, but is there some point where Christians need to stand up and get involved for the truth of God's Word?

Balaam's Talking Donkey: For our sakes, I hope you're wrong. But, I can see where you're coming from.

gorgeous(txwoman): Well, I've never read Pope Gregory's or Constantine's works...but, I have read Paul's letters to the churches. I do like to stick with the Bible. Although other literature can be worthy of a good read and inspiring - it is not *inspired*.

I think all of us get intimidated from time-to-time.

Just look at this board for instance. So many times you see responses like "mind your own business", "keep your opinions to yourself", "live and let live" and many other similar comments.

It's difficult for a lost and dying world to understand why these statements just don't make sense to a truly saved Christian. For us this is not a game or even a life style. This is the absolutely most important decision that a person will ever make.

So, don't be a homosexual, or have an abortion...

Here's the thing beyond that though. Ready to get off the planet because it isn't working out the way that you want? Hateful hardly matters when you spend all your energy telling others that they are wrong. . Christianity has over the last thousand of years not kept with the evolution of humanity. The gap is even wider now than when I was a child. Humanity WANTS to evolve it's understanding. WANTS peace. WANTS tolerance. WANTS Love. Mirroring it onto a war god, doesn't make sense.

Both abortion and homosexuality do not create the choas that you seem to think it does.

My homosexual male friends are a priceless lesson of just how much you can honor a friendship. I have a deep love for them. Basically due to the rather open communication that we have. I walked away just recently really wondering at the feeling of expansion that I feel in my friends presence.

I couldn't care less about Romans and Deuteronomy. You actually think that up against my experience, the bible is going to make an impact?

As for abortion (murder) according to you. I have personally been very careful about how many children I have brought into this world, and I did consider the world conditions and population when I decided on family size. Even before, my own personal financial. They are well supported and loved. Those two things are very important to me. I USE birth control and teach that practice to my children. Before the subject even becomes necessary. Keeping the channels open so to lessen the likelyhood of having to make a choice. And the choice should be there, without anyone else judging it.

You seem to think that the thinking of today outside of your religion is shallow and without integrity. Go out and listen further...and put yourself on the front lines and see how you do.

Since I'm not Christ, I don't have the right to judge anyone, so the gay issue is not something I feel I have any right to deal with. The second I consider myself up there on the same level with Christ, completely sinless, I'll think about judging gay people.

As for abortion, its just wrong, and I don't back down on anything when it concerns murdering babies. The fact that Hollywood is all for it doesn't have much of an effect, except maybe in the reverse. Any area that promotes plastic surgery for vanity like Hollywood does, isn't exactly anyone's spiritual role model.

I usually do not go looking for trouble. By that I mean, if someone tells me they are homosexual or that they have had an abortion, that does not mean they have asked my opinion. If they are good friends of mine, I may start a conversation, but if they are mere acquaintances, I will allow them to approach me before I give my views on the subject. I try to just show them love and that I care for them as a person, and when the time is right, perhaps them and I can talk about it in a reasonable manner.
However if someone is trying to pick an argument because they know I think it's wrong... I do not mess with it. I do not look to overpower someone's belief system... but if they seek me out for my opinion.. I will give it in a respect yet honest way.

Luk 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.

I personally live by the scripture quoted above. When asked, I'll give my opinion but to "stand up and get involved" basically means to condemn and judge others.

If the Bible says something is wrong, it's wrong, so my opinion is that homosexuality and abortion is wrong. But should I stand up and loudly proclaim that it's wrong? No. It's not for me to judge or condemn. Anything a person does is between them and God only.

I've given counseling to women who considered having an abortion...giving my opinion and backing it up with scripture and I have friends and acquaintances who are gay that I've had discussions with about their lifestyle but it's not my place to loudly condemn them or to voice my opinion where it's not asked for.

Notice that I used the words "I", "my" and "me" instead of words like "we" or "our". just as it's not my place to condemn the actions of other, the same holds true for telling others that they should or should not "stand up and get involved". Again, that is between each individual and God.

2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

I know that is only a part of what Paul was saying in 2 Timothy, but it puts the perspective on what God has called each one of us to do. So my answer to your question is; No. God hasn't called me personally to contest all the Liberals that I hear about, and he has not called me personally to take the load of aborted babies in the world. What he has called me personally to do is be here. I explain things, defend the faith, and lead others to the knowledge of peace with God through Christ.

Now I have an opinion on those other things, don't get me wrong! But if I have peace with God then I will keep my nose to the plow ( so to speak ) and carry the word to those who ask.

Romans 1(and the rest of the book) is some of my favorite scripture. I certainly stand up against these abominations, yet it's no different (in my opinion) than any other sin... although God does call homosexuality "detestable". I have, during street witnessing, been confronted by homosexuals on numerous occasions, 3 of which the Lord worked through them!

If you look at those in the Bible who worked to spread the Gospel, they did not seek a large or political platform from which to teach. They did, however, go out among the people and talk with them. They worked with them, and lived among them as equals. I believe that we must let others know how we feel about things. I also feel, that if we trully conduct ourselves as Christians, showing love to all others, then people will know what we stand for.

if every real follower of Jesus Christ yelled No at the same time the thunder would be heard around the world.
The problem is Christians tend to live in non Christian communities. If they were together in one town or one community it might help be supportive of one another and learn not to compromise principles. But I don't see that happening.

NO I do not keep my mouth shut. I just share God's word about those issues.

Romans 1:26-32 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Deuteronomy 5:17 Thou shalt not kill.
